The changing face of the WTs...

It will be a lot easier to start off the 2018 season with a positive attitude if they don't end up with the spoon. If they do end up with the spoon it won't be so easy.

Reynolds will be the face of the club next year imo.

X2 I just hope that he brings all his passion that he has displayed at the Bulldogs to WT.

Im not so sure about that mate. Getting the spoon would be a kick in the guts and provide the incentive to really have a good go in 2018\. Coming 2nd last, 3rd last etc only puts players in the mindset of "at least we didn't finish last" and our underperformance just gets hidden amongst the other underperforming clubs. Finishing last would provide huge motivation IMO.
That being said I thoroughly hope we don't finish with the spoon but it wouldn't be the end of the world for us or the club.

I don't have high expectations for 2018\. We have bought well, and seem to be retaining well. With the potential turnover of 50% of our 17 it is going to take these guys a while to find their rhythm and gel into a cohesive unit.

They could be a real shot for the bottom end of the 8 but anything beyond that is going to a bit of over achieving.

2018 has a Bulldogs 2009 feel about it.

They came last in 2008 after the SBW saga and were at the lowest possible point that season.

They recruited:

- J Morris
- Kimmorely
- Ennis
- Stagg
- Hannat
- Goodwin

Who weren't superstars but solid first graders at the time.

Combined with the promotion of promising youngsters like Idris and a few other seasoned players like Ryan and El-Masri they went on to finish in the top 4 and make a preliminary final.

I dunno but 2018 has that sort of feel for us..

I think the whole recruitment strategy has a Bulldog feel to it. Not flashy, hard nosed pros who I'll compete

And look how they have done in the last few years. Over achieved.

If making the finals 5 years straight and two grand finals is over achieving, I'll take that every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I so want the before and after posters of WT and dogs

2016 Woods in WT jersey. Reynolds in the Blue and white.

2018 Reylolds in tiger stripe. Woods leading the dogs pack. ….

This competition is....WEIRD.

Id say the odds of us playing the Dogs in round 1 next year are $1.01.

If you gave our possible 17 for 2018 a value between 1 and 100 and do the same with our best 17 this year, next year would win hands down. Seriously, Teddy was the only really big loss, but what we would have had to pay him would have reduced our purchasing power.

I do not think our squad in 2018 will be top four and maybe bottom of the eight at best, but what we will have is the foundations of a very strong football club

Sc,I totally agree with your comments, the biggest thing for me as a member and fan,is the disappointments that we had to endure year after year…winning a premiership and then not making finals the following years, paying overs for potential that wasn't realised, having a champion fullback come through our juniors as well as a rep prop telling us the club and players aren't good enough for them and then leaving to other clubs, having an overated playmaker demanding big money and yet not producing at NRL level to make those monetary demands and finally an inept management right through the club for years from board through to coaches...
Everything is now changing for the better, from playing roster through to a very proffessional and football savvy coach who has shown he will not be dictated to....what is there not to be excited about ?..from where I see things we are finally becoming a club with a positive, firm and smart future and that is thanks to the Independant board and CEO who employed Ivan to take over the helm of football operations,we no longer have to fear the "" boys"" club or players who think they are the WTs.... We are heading in a clear and presice direction finally for the first time in 17 years.I hope many of us will be patient and let the people in their respective roles do their job..

Once we all get over the disappointments we have had to endure, the team wins games and we finally are financially viable with the cap,we will be a force in the NRL...personally I look forward to many, many happy times in the not so distant future...

In the words of the great Wayne Pearce who once signed a jumper and photograph for me..

STAY STRONG...YOU ARE A TRUE TIGER....

I SAY WE ARE WESTS TIGERS AND THERE IS NOTHING STRONGER THAN OUR BOND...

Blimey, if you're not looking forward to next year with eager anticipation, you are dead-set hard to please!
I'm super excited to see our new team on the field. For the first time in a loooonnnngggg time I get the feeling that the Tigers will be more than a handful for any NRL team next year and particularly 2019 when I would expect another couple of top line recruits.

How well we go next year will largely depend on Brooks. We know what we'll get from Reynolds, Packer and Mautalino - our big 3 signings so far (add Rona if we secure him). But we need Brooks to deliver - and behind a better pack, I think he will.

Let the good times roll, people. We deserve it!

**Marina Go said we would have some tough years until 2018.**

I'm content that we have an established coach who has plenty of cap space to spend on players mostly of his choosing.

We may finally have a pack of forwards who can hold their own against opposition teams. My biggest hope is that some of our young up and coming forwards can now thrive in a much better, harder and more experienced team. I am sure Woods would be having some regret but he, Tedesco and Moses priced themselves out and allowed Cleary to gather this squad.

She actually said we would be Top 4 in 2017.

I think Marina wasnt counting on the dramas with the big 4 when she made that statement, having said that, with the appointment of Ivan and the new roster he is building we can be top 4 in 2019,maybe 2018 if everything goes well for us…..Im still on the bus and waiting to see who the next pickup is....
