The said article has now been removed from the Telegraph's on-line publication….interesting...

The damage has been done…its too late...WT should reply with a full page AD in the DT with their statement they published

Not disputing the damage has been done …interesting in the fact of possible legal action...

As I said before the unnamed players who supposedly made the comments quoted by the DT must be brought to bear by the NRL and interviewed with regards to their contribution/s into bring the game of NRL into disrepute. This is, I am sure, why the DT has taken steps to withdraw the fraudulent article,

The unnamed players are not the problem. Im sure if you asked Farah, Siteleki, Tapou they would give a negative response and I'm willing to accept that these guys are not happy. Additionally they are not responsible that their names have not been published. The problem lies with the RLPA putting their name to a report that has been compiled from just about the least independent person you could find, the method of compiling the report and then the disgraceful way the Telegraph has reported on it.

It's like somebody posting a rant on Facebook or Twitter, only to realize the repercussions. Sadly for the DT, the damage has been done, Not only should the club explore their legal options, but so to should the Fotuaika family.

Bit different to someone ranting on Facebook to a carefully planned attack on a family who will is still battling to get answers and a club who is being wrongfully accused

Screw em , I say take them for everything and the kitchen sink , remove all the DT idiots on the Fox shows , teach them a lesson that all journalist and press in this country will learn from

Wests Tigers consider suing over report

By Matt Encarnacion

Wests Tigers have shot down allegations of a toxic culture at the NRL club that came to the attention of the players' association last summer.

Three years after former player Mosese Fotuaiki committed suicide, News Corp Australia published on Sunday excerpts from a 2015 report produced by the Rugby League Players Assocation (RLPA).

The article quoted an unnamed player that alleged two more players considered taking their lives in 2015.

The joint merger club hit back on Sunday morning, describing the front-page article as "inaccurate" and "misleading", before threatening to sue.

"The Sunday Telegraph obtained a small portion of this confidential report and has decided to publish these unsubstantiated, and unconfirmed, claims," the Tigers said in a statement.

One unnamed player said the club failed to enhance player welfare following the death of Fotuaika 2013.

"Having already had a player take their own life a this club I am scared it will happened again," the player reportedly said in the report.

"This club hasn't learned anything from that ahppened with Moses. To be honest I think it has gotten worse. I know two players this year (2015) who have thought about suicide.

"The thought of it makes me sick."

The club on Friday announced the appointment of newly-retired player Dene Halatau as Culture and Leadership coordinator.

The legacy of the legend. You will be remembered.

I hope it is remembered. I can see in 5 years or so from now, when Robbie is retired and Taylor is gone, I can see Robbie coming back to the club hoping for a position or role within the "club he loves". I hope this is all remembered when that happens.

So now it's the RLPA that has an agenda against the club? I understand why people are very sceptical about DT articles, but what reason would the Players' Association to doctor a report?

Take a little time to investigate the following links RLPA <=Clint Newton <=Sam Ayoub <=Robbie Farah.

It was reported around October last year that the RLPA were commissioning this report. it was conducted by a lawyer with links to Ayoub. I remember the lawyer came out in the press with similar negative reports about the Tigers before the report was even complete.

This is a Farah/Ayoub stitch up. Make no mistake.

We can talk as much as we like but we never know the truth. The club has supposedly been ranked 2 in player welfare. The best and true barometer of how we are going inthis respect is how many players and what quality of players have re-signed with the club during this time.

On that point, Dene Halatau was a RLPA board member over the last few years and I cant believe he would have no only signed with the club but also taken on his new role if it was as toxic as reported.

I'm not so sure Farah has anything to do with the leaking of the report. I do suspect Ayoub though. He made threats to the club during the Farah saga and this may well be him carrying through as a show of his "power".

Forget the "leaking" of the report, I suspect both of them in the COMMISSIONING of the report. Yes it has been released **under the guise of RLPA but it has been done by Farahs lawyer** and Clint Newton has close ties to Ayoub. Ayoub threatens to release a dirt file on Tigers, then a "RLPA" investigation is carried out by Farahs lawyer. It's not a difficult trail.

I am NOT a fan of Taylor but I am very glad Robbie is gone. I was a huge fan of his playing and thought he should have played out the season off the bench in firsts…but for this to happen I think shows his true colours. There HAVE been reports out of the club for a LONG time about a toxic culture and there has always been one common denominator. I previously not wanted to believe it but if something walks like a duck, talks like a duck, acts like a duck......

The lawyer was appointed to Farah by the Players Association - the work she did for him was on their behalf.

Seriously - anybody who thinks Farah has anything to do with this story coming out again now is brain dead and living on hatred.

The question should be asked of the Tele as to why they are regurgitating old news.

She was acting on behalf of Farah reportedly on 5/9/15\. Investigation was ongoing and reported on in Oct 15\. Hardly independent. She was Farahs lawyer when she was carrying out the "independent" investigation.

No one is saying Farah has anything to do with the story coming out now, but I and others are saying that Farah and his dodgey entourage have a LOT to do with the investigation itself and its dodgey findings.

Due to the defamatory nature of The Sunday Telegraph’s article Wests Tigers will be considering its legal options.

So they should. It's a joke how the media can constantly publish unsubstantiated, slandering rubbish like this and are allowed to get off scot free. I hope the club goes at them with both barrels.

The onus is on the club or NRL to commission a transparent review where players are still offered the same level of anonymity and if what is in ths report is confirmed, heads should roll.

True. On the other side of the coin, if what is in the report is not confirmed, then the people responsible for unsubstantiated slander need to be legally taken to the wall for plenty of $$$.

The club must sue.

This will be very interesting to see what happens.

Having family members that work in Newspapers (never at the Daily Telegraph), this would have gone past the legal team at the paper before being published. They would have seen the document and the quotes and approved the story. They would have been happy with it and approved it to be published.

Many people threaten to sue papers over articles but very few go ahead with it as they get legal advice they won't win. I very much doubt the club will end up taking legal action against the Telegraph.

I am not saying the article is right just offering any opinion that no legal action will be taken by the Club. Maybe because part of the document in question would shine a bad light on the Club.

Bringing up the tradegy suicide was in very poor taste and pre-dated any of the current management or coaching staff and is just after a cheap headline.

Wow, if Wests Tigers are currently ranked as #2 for Player Welfare, how bad is it at the other 14 Clubs?

No doubt the RLPA are conducting reports as we speak, and if not shame on the RLPA for not taking these matters seriously?!

The club has gone 180 degrees from 12 months ago Watto and has really knuckled down to focus on player welfare and management. It's just another case of the DT making up rubbish to sell papers. There was actually an article earlier in the week regarding a guy I arrested which brought his former fiance into it, when she was completely unaware of what he was up to. When they get knock backs from clubs, organisations etc they just make up their own conclusion, whether it's correct or not.

Robbie Farah please tell your boys to leave the club alone. :deadhorse:

Blind Freddy can see who is behind this.

Wests Tigers chairwoman Marina Go defends NRL club against claims of bullying culture

Chris Barrett
Chris Barrett

Wests Tigers chairwoman Marina Go has described as wildly exaggerated claims of a culture of bullying and harassment at Concord Oval contained in a Rugby League Players Association report last year and accused a player agent of trying to "cause detriment" to the club because it had refused to sack head coach Jason Taylor.

Tigers officials were furious at the publication by News Corp on Sunday of sections of a discussion paper produced by the RLPA in 2015 in which it was alleged the club had failed to ensure the well-being of contracted players, including the now departed former captain Robbie Farah, and that club staff had bullied players to the point of tears.
\
\
One unidentified player was quoted as having said in the annual players' union survey conducted at all clubs that he knew of two teammates at the Tigers who had contemplated suicide last year.

On Sunday the Tigers went on the offensive at the assessment of their culture, saying they had in the 2016 season been ranked second across the competition for their welfare program and been praised by the NRL's senior welfare and education manager Paul Heptonstall for improving in that area more than any other club in the past 12 months.

Go acknowledged that the negative feedback from some on their roster last year had led the club to beef up its welfare department but believed other factors were at play.

"I don't want to dismiss those players with real concerns because clearly the survey has shown there were some players experiencing difficulties within the club 18 months ago, which is why the club took steps to strengthen the welfare department," Go said. "But the whole thing has been wildly exaggerated.

"At our recent Halloween Ball to raise funds for our partners Beyond Blue, we heard from the mother of a player from another club who took his life last year. Clearly many rugby league clubs will have players struggling at any given time, which is why the NRL places such a strong emphasis on player welfare.

**"At the heart of this story is a campaign by a player manager who vowed to cause detriment to this club if we didn't sack our coach."\
\
It is understood the player manager referred to is Sam Ayoub**, who has on his book Farah, who was in the corner of the NSW State of Origin and is now South Sydney hooker after the Tigers sought to move him on.

Ayoub declined to comment when contacted on Sunday but he continues to have players on the books at the Tigers, including Kyle Lovett, David Nofoaluma, Justin Hunt and former Origin centre Jamal Idris, who he signed to a one-year deal with the team last month.

The report on the Tigers was produced by the RLPA's former general manager of player engagement and development Tilda Khoshaba, who has since been made redundant by the players' union and is contesting her exit from the organisation, citing sexual discrimination.

Since the report was conducted, the Tigers have added to their welfare team by hiring premiership-winning centre Paul Whatuira, who had a well-documented battle with mental illness, as the club's wellbeing and education officer. The recently retired 2005 grand final winner Dene Halatau remains with the Tigers as the culture and leadership co-ordinator.

RLPA CEO Ian Prendergast said on Sunday it had been "fairly widely known that, at the end of last year, the Tigers administration recognised they needed to address some issues in relation to player wellbeing and they have been working with the NRL and RLPA wellbeing and education team to do that".

The union rep added: "They have made a commitment to make player wellbeing a priority and have a number of qualified and dedicated people working in wellbeing and education, which has been reflected in recent data collected."

Did this really make the front page of the Sunday paper?

![](http://i68.tinypic.com/fye62b.jpg)

oh god. that is truly pathetic.
i hope mosese's family ask for an apology- not on the front page, but with a personal meeting

very low

If Mosese was my son , I'd be wanting more than apology :imp:

I'd want James Phelp's head on a stick

Disgusting ,Disgraceful ,Despicable

The club can't let this lie , the NRL needs to start sticking it's head into some of the reporting on the game

Its does far more harm than good

How can we get a link to this clowns email's address , and just bombard this piece of excrement to hell

Using suicide to write a story , does it get any lower ??

I agree, but I think this would be higher up than James Phelps. He has bosses that he answers to don't forget.
