The cups

Backed Green Moon in the end but just a wuss bet and without any confidence. I've got doubts he'll get the trip but then again I've been far more confident in years gone by and got stuff all so who knows. I think the other Waterhouse horse (Fierente?) is a mystery runner and My Quest for Peace is good value.

Mrs Yoss who normally is much better than me in picking the winner has Cavalryman but she was working last night and therefore hasn't put much thought into it.

AUSTRALIA'S top jockey Damien Oliver - who will ride equal favourite Americain in today's Melbourne Cup - has admitted to racing authorities that he bet on a rival horse in a 2010 race and expects to be charged soon.

It is a disgrace. This isn't interference or something like that, the bloke has admitted to backing another horse in a race he rode in. That's about as low as it gets for a jockey. He should have been suspended straight off the bat. How it's only worth 9-12 months is another mystery. If he was in Honkers he'd be eating porridge by now.

Not long now and have stuck by Ethiopia. also on Red Cadeaux.

My best roughie is Zabeelionaire, nice run saturday finishing off well, almost and old fashioned style lead up run into the cup.

Thanks mate. Had the second one for the place too. Best result I've had since Jeune!!

Put $20 on the nose at $7.40 for the win on Dunaden and $20 for a place also.

Plus $20 on Americain for a place and $10 on Maluckyday for a place.

Result = epic fail.

Got $30 back in a sweep at work which was a sweetener.

Not much of a horse better but the MC I normally have a go. Oh well there's always next year. Congrats to everyone who had a win.

Two posts about the rolling, corrupt mindfield that is horse racing, compared to how many about Lance Armstrong? The irony is mind numbing. As Jim Morrison used to say 'people are strange'

I was waiting for you to jump all over this. Get over it CT, The darling of your sport got busted and it's as rife with corruption/cheating as the gallops.

On topic, did anyone have a decent win today? I picked up a couple of office sweeps, but no such luck at the TAB. The trifecta looked very juicy.

LOL I'll be 😛ray: to make sure you win it Happy.

I won big on the Cup - didn't bet a cent! Best thing I never did - cause I certainly wouldn't have picked any of those 3!

LOL @ CTs chalk n cheese comparison…I wonder if Damien Oliver will make every News broadcast main story and every front page on the planet too?

Struggling BIG time

Time for this little duck to bar himself from the TAB for a while :frowning:

People bet their hard earned on horses, harness and greyhounds, very few do on the bike races. Even if they did, it's a level playing field, has been for a century.

You'd think that Oliver would have at let been stood down for his actions, actions I might add, that may well have cost 1000's of punters their shirts. But no he's allowed to ride in the country's biggest race. The attention given him so far, is much less than was accorded Ryan Tandy. That is more than absurd, more than imbalanced.

The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

Comparing the amount of people that bet on horses compared to cycling is irrelevant, the fact is that people still bet on the cycling and there would have no doubt been some losing out on the betting market due to drug cheats in cycling. Who knows what the betting demographics are elsewhere in the world as well, there could well be a higher incidence in betting on cycling in Europe than here.

A cheat is a cheat, no matter which way you slice it. Doesn't matter if the sport quietly acknowledges it and chooses to do nothing about it… It's still cheating. There's no hypocrisy from this little black duck, Oliver should be banned for life and criminally investigated.

Now can you go elsewhere and sing the blues about Armstrong? Everyone else has moved on from it, it's probably time you do too.

You could deal with a few facts, in fact you could take the time to understand the role that drugs have played in pro cycling over the years, but like so many others it's easier to be dismissive and sarcastic. I couldn't give a rats if everyone has 'moved on' to the next hemisphere and I certainly don't need you to set my needle to topics that suit your preferred agenda. If the subject matter so tires you, don't respond

Just as I don't require you to adjust my moral compass on issues that conflicts with yours. You're right about thing, the subject does tire me and I have no interest in discussing it further.
