The effect of dropping a "name" player

Maybe this had nothing to do with the with the win. Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.

However I saw all forwards bending the line and ripping in. Like they were playing for their spots. All of them had really good games.

Its good to have some pressure on positions. We have been too much of a boys club for years.

Well done to Taylor for making a hard call.

The signing of a class backrower has had an effect I'd say…

Yep, ET was a major but I also thought that JJ gave really good impact off the bench, shame he made that error late in the game but overall I like it.

And I thought Aloiai went at least as well as Sirro does.

Aloia and JJ are looking the goods.

Our go forward last night was off the charts and these 2 made a huge difference.

Aloiai seems to be slotting in out wide and belting it up. JJ has really impressed me. He already looks like a top quality prop.

All of a sudden there are poster boys like sirro, and one of rankin, Jac, Nofo or Kev in reggies. It has to make a difference.

You would think one of Ballin, Farah and halatau will be joining them.

ET has taken the pressure off all these young guys as they dont have to play big minutes anymore and Sue an be that enormous impact play off the bench. With Ballin fit and Farah back, Dene is the weakest link now with JJ and Lovett both performing so well, I hope Taylor keeps JJ on the bench.

But is Dene really the weakest link? He covers two positions unlike Farah and Ballin. JT has a tough call to make.

Yes he is. While he is a better 2nd row option than Ballin or Farah the primary purpose of that bench spot is to spell the starting hooker. Ballin and Farah are better at defending the middle and working as part of the middle defensive unit. Ballin and Farah offer better service out of dummy half. It's a no brainer to me.

Dene is a great player but just getting old and a bit slow now.

The penalty he gave away last night while struggling to get back to marker position was a perfect example of what is happening week in and week out. Last night it cost us to points and helped put the Broncos into a points position to challenge for the game.
So yes, drop Dene for mine.

Edit: Gifted them TWO points…

I think Dene makes the squad based on the fact that he can play in the backrow and at hooker. Ballin and Robbie may be able to play lock but I don't think they are anywhere near as good as Dene.

I think taylor will go with Farah/ballin but you don't see two specialist hookers n in the one team too often.

Hodgson/Baptiste
Granville/Kostjasyn
Levi/Randell
De Gois/Pritchard
Cook/McInness
Luke/Tevaga

Most of those guys have limited utility value outside of being a second hooker.

Yep. Fair call.
