The "Head Clash"

IF it is deemed deliberate, than I agree. However if your aim is to take a player out of the game, then in my opinion, driving your head into his is a very risky and painful way of going about it. I would be surprised if it was a deliberate tactic. It could easily backfire and damage the defender just as much as the ball runner.

I feel it is poor technique rather than a calculated action.

The forehead is the hardest bone in the body. Way harder than the cheek or jaw. Thats why the head butt can be so dangerous. As for TW: rudeness forbids me from too much comment but I will say you should look up the word 'moderator' in the dictionary.

Not sure that I can agree that it is poor technique Stryker. Whilst Paul Kent may not be the best judge in the game, I think the video of the earlier tackle (about 1:10 into the video linked below) shows that this does appear to be a deliberate act. In the earlier tackle Nate Myles does not appear to be trying to drive in with his shoulder at all, just push with his head.

Good link..I think its only a matter of time that this sort of action is regarded the same as the shoulder charge gone wrong.

Not for Myles it isn't - He has a head the size of a bar-fridge, that looks like its made of concrete.

I didn't think it was deliberate, until I saw the other head butt incident - then watched Nate make another 40 odd tackles that he didn't lead like that with his head on the Fox replay.

He wasn't in my grub team before, but he is now. :imp:

I agree it doesnt look good. If it is a deliberate act, he will be pulled up for it as you can bet all referees are watching him closely now. I still think there is easier ways of taking players out of the game than smashing them in the face with your head. Effective and/or border line off side markers have frequently taken Robbie out of the game in the past. Trying to do it through headbutting out in the open seems a risky way to accomplish said goals.

I put it down to it being a very physical decider that was played with emotions high. NSW were every bit as much to blame for this stuff with constant elbows into the face of tackled players on the ground. However this is SOO and an elevated level of violence has always been tolerated. Rightly or wrongly, this stuff happens every series. Its not just the best side that wins….it is also the toughest.

Farah wasnt playing for the Tigers… Her deserves everything he gets when wearing that ugly Blues Jumper.

Its no different to when Benji puts on his Kiwi Frock... I hope we bash him too!!!

A lot on here dont get this line of thinking Watto…but I am with you. Mate v Mate...its the way origin has always been.

The Myles have family trouble

I love the SOO concept but cant see how you can agree with TW's statement, Her deserves everything he gets(sic.)when previously you post that it looks bad and if its deemed wrong he should be punnished. A NSW supporter might say it should have been pulled up on the spot and The Worlds Biggest Little Person should have been sent off. I can just hear the howls of derision coming from the Deep North if that had occured!

Mate these blokes are professionals and know exactly what they are getting themselves into.
When I saw Rob stumbling around on Wednesday night my first impression wasnt 'oh no there goes one of the tigers for friday night'…it was 'oh good..there goes one of NSW's playmakers". To his credit he continued on and almost directed the blues to victory. This did please me as a tiger fan but as a QLD fan all that I wanted was for him to be shut down. Thats how it goes.

What Myles did to Farah was simple a low act. It was deliberate and dirty and he should have been sent off. You cannot attack the head of an opposing player with any part of your body full stop. The nrl needs to act imediatly or someone is going to get mamed or worse.

I only saw a proper replay of the tackle on Sunday. It WAS a dog act. There was very little intent to tackle Robbie and plenty of intent in disguising a mistimed tackle. Look how early he gets into position. Look how at the last moment he drives with his head. Then look how late he brings his arms in to "tackle" Robbie. Not only was it a dog act by Myles but it was a dog act by the match review committee to let it slide with out punishment. Unacceptable really the Tigers deserve some answers because of it.

Does anyone remember luke burt(?) smashing Hodgo's entire face with a headbutt? That could have happened to Robbie here. Burt's probably wasn;t deliberate. myles' was.

PJ Marsh was a classic for leading with his head. Broke alot of noses over his career
