Well it has been functional for the past 30 years at least…

The siren went off about 3-4 seconds after it should have. I was at the opposite end of the ground and could hear it clearly. Problem was the Manly player was tackled as the clock reached zero, that extra few seconds meant he head played the ball by the time the siren went off and so the refs played on. If it went before he played it they would have called time.

For and against means little right now. We have more than enough time to make up for an extra 6 points come the finals.

As I said before it is a different clock to past years for whatever reason.

I do agree with your timings. I was in the stand, saw it at 0.00 and waited for siren which was delayed a few seconds.

Have to laugh , just read the article on ninemsn where Farah speaks in the post match about it and when Mayer is questioned he says its an NRL issue

I'm sorry to say Mr Mayer its our siren it's our problem

It must of worked through all other games during the day , just went wrong at the worst possible time

Was it as loud as usual , that seems to be the gist of what the refs were suggesting from what I can gather from the article Maybe I'm reading it wrong

I always thought the 'official' timekeeper was an NRL employee ? Therefore it's an NRL issue. It might only have cost us some f/a but in another game it might cost a team some premiership points.

The only team that can lose a game from such an incident is a Team which doesn't play to the whistle…

Don't think we'd be complaining if we had scored rather than Manly. Toovs would have busted a boiler though!

In years past, that would have cost us the game. Good thing the team is playing well enough to allow mistakes like that not impact the overall outcome.

I seriously doubt refs have anything to do with the time

Klein had no watch on nor the other bloke

If refs were the timekeepers we'd be seeing heaps more incidents of the ref blows h/t, f/t **before** the clock on screen or at ground shows 00:00….we never see that, and only on the odd occasion is it after the clock has wound down

It does not happen in junior games

NRL may ask council to fix it (directly or via WT)

I was on the hill fairly close to the scoreboard and I thought it went off twice. Once shortly when the clock hit zero and then again about 3-4 secs after which was a longer version.

my point isnt in relation to the physical timing of the game… Its really simple for the players because the Referee has the Whistle.

Im with Watto…. end of the half, a high shot, even offsides, they dont exist or even happen unless the ref calls it with the whistle. Its not always correct, but it is always right. Different game, but an umpire once told me "I never make mistakes, my word is the law". It was amateur of our team to think otherwise.

But someone has to tell the ref when.

Seems obvious LO needs a new hooter, this reminds me of when my young blokes club moved home grounds to TG Milner several years ago, went from Kent Rd, typical park footy ground to a ground with clubhouse, small stand and visible clock….some of the less fit kids would be keeping an eye on the clock towards the end of the half, rather than listening for the whistle
