The issues

My 2 cents worth on the issues at Wests.

1\. Mental: when things aren't going our way, we dont have the mental strength to hang in there and ride it out. This has been an issue for many years. Not easy to fix. Will take time and new players.

2\. We need an attacking fullback. Easy to fix. Put Teddy in.

3\. No elite centres. Asyford is average. Lawrence is no longer a rep standard player. Looks and plays busted. The injury killed his career. Was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but after last night, the reality is he will never get 'it' back. Not easy to fix. Will need contracts to run before saying bye-bye.

4\. No dominant half. Not easy to fix. Brooks is the future. Not easy to fix. When do we blood him? Too early and ruin his confidence, too late and the season is over.

5\. Lightweight backrow. Cannot have Fulton and Anasta. Anasta to bench. Easy to fix.

6\. One or two big props short. Woods and Galloway need help off the bench. Need to cut the deadwood. Takes time to build a roster.

If Ashyford and Lawrence especially are selected tonight I think Potter needs an OPSM test. They should be replaced by the young Brien who is a brilliant attacker and defender and the experienced Bodene Thompson who besides being a good attacking centre would certainly strenghten the centre and wing defence.

1; Mental…TRUE..It really stood out last night I thought. I thought Coach Potter addressed this in the off season...Looks like the Off Season wasn't long enough.
2: You have to put Teddy in. not just on Moltzen's game last night, but on 2012 as well.
3: Lawrence has never been the same player after dislocating his hip. Asyford, 2 years ago was one of our best..I reckon it is BENJI that stuffs the pair of them up! They need quick ball,,not Benji doing THE CRAB.
4: Haven't had a 1/2 since Scott PRINCE left...So, lets spends 1/2 a MILLION on Adam BLAIR!!!
5: Galloway,,,needs to STEP UP!!!!
So glad we have a OUTLET to RANT after getting SMASHED!!!

Don't get me started n on Adam bloody Blair. The guy is an oxygen thief taking up way too much cap space.

I thought he had a good game last night when we weren't being pounded.

Agrre totally. With Thompson in the centres, he could also come in and help the forwards when they are struggling. Even give Brien a crack, it will also wake up Ayshford and Lawrence.

I really believe that finding a solution to the centre problem surrounding Lawrence and Ayshford should be WT's most urgent priority. Many will say that we haven't the personnel to replace players like Lawrence and Ayshford. That is just inward negative thinking. Players like Brien and Thompson cannot do worse than Lawrence and Ayshford have shown since the latter part of last season. If this centre pairing do not show substantial improvement against Penrith they should be replaced for the Parramatta match not wait until we play teams like the Storm.

Lawrence and Ayshford were put under so much pressure by a defensive structure that was so compressed they were marking three men every time the Knights shifted the ball.

From a attacking point of view, their was none, we had no ball to amount any pressure

Give them a break, its a team game, we were beaten all over the park, no one is calling for Matshalls scalp and he was only slightly better than Utai.

Potter is smart, give this squad three to four weeks before pulling out the axe

Why was the defensive structure so compressed? Was this what Potter had instructed before the match? If so I would have expected Potter to order a change of structure at halftime when the defensive problem had bcome very apparent.
