Yes, it was a wrong call. The referee made a mistake, a potentially very costly mistake. But both teams played to the whistle and there was no guarantee that Ireland would have ended up qualifying if the call went the other way.

All this talk about having a rematch is over the top and I would be astounded if it ever happened.

This is one example of why I find soccer so frustrating. It is so difficult for teams to score goals. This brings the referees under intense pressure to get decisions correct in the goal scoring opportunities. One wrong call can have a huge impact on the result!

Looked to me like the first handball was accidental, then the second was intentional. Then for the sake of it he put the cross in, waiting for it to be called back and it wasn't. Although Henry should have put his hand up, if I was Irish I would be more angry at the officials than Henry.

From my gathering the incident occurred during injury time and it was this particular goal that put France in front of ireland on aggregate, thus moving France through. IF the goal was not awarded and a penalty given to Ireland I honestly think it is fair to say France WOULDNT be in the world cup. If there is a provision for a match to be replayed ten it should be replayed, if there isn't then it is an unfortunate by product of the boring game not advancing with the technology available.

Ver unfortunate what happened to the Irish but not much can be done at the moment. I would call Henry a cheat but he is not at fault for the Irish not making the World Cup. It should have been called a handball but obviously the referee and his assistants didn't see it. This is why I think a protest option should be allowed (one a game regardless of decision). The coach can protest a decison from his box before the 4th official (who looks after interchanges) has a chance to look at it. If the views are inconclusive after 6 looks, the result stands. It will slow the game down a little but the right decision needs to be made.

I feel for the Irish they have been robbed of a crack at the biggest most famous sporting prize in the world.
What tierry Henry did was disgusting ..
I wasn't happy with the way he celebrated afterwards either
seeing as the FFA can't replay the match they should give Henry a two match suspension during the pool stages of the world cup
