The media issue

Unfortunately "negativity" rates.

I have seen actual data from media companies that show any headline, written, TV or radio that leads with a negative or sensationalist hook ( eg SHOCK, SAD, OUTRAGE, etc etc) constantly outperforms (clicks, ratings whatever) positive news stories by more than double.

It isn't just sports it's news in general unfortunately.

Hence the steady decline in quality of journalism (old style newspaper reporters, investigative reporting, 60 minutes etc) and the dramatic increase in shite "reality" shows - its all about drama/backstabbing/double crossing/bullying etc- double the clicks and ratings.

In discussions with experienced media/marketing/advertising people they acknowledge this as truth and new age reality and social media definitely has played a major role in it - breeding this type of mentality and the anonymous troll activity.

People aways say reality tv is dominant due to its cheapness to make but in reality TV production is still driven by ratings so if those shows weren't rating they wouldn't be made.

No answers other than to turn off the crap both online and tv/radio and hope enough others do the same but at this point I think the genie is out of the bottle and won't be put back in....

There’s way worse clubs than us, but it’s often us, Sharks & Dogs that get the most negative press overall for some reason. Broncos copped a heap this season for obvious reasons, but I actually think that was more of an attack on Seibold rather than the club itself. They’re still being thrashed on the field, but now Seibold has gone there’s hardly a squeak about them in the media. The media agenda against Seibold was completely over the top and obviously controlled by greater powers who will get away with destroying a bloke’s reputation and livelihood, imo.

The irony that in today's DT the front page is Nathan Cleary talking about his FOPO: fear of people's opinions. Imagine if he played for us, heck, if Madge had 'FOPO'. The DT would drive them to an early retirement.

Main stream media of any genre is, by and large, absolute garbage. There will be an agenda set, and the narrative will always and only support that agenda. Alternate views, perspectives, beliefs, are not tolerated.
The Telecrap is just a microcosm of MSM in general.
And I will not tolerate anyone whose opinion does not support this narrative!

It’s just a cheap attempt at a laugh at the expense of the current punching bag... shrug it off.... most people wouldn’t even know who this supposed journalist is and trying to make a name through clicks on his story....leave it alone.

It will only make it so much sweeter when we are a top eight side and premiership contender to rub these parasites noses in it . It’s obviously a driven agenda by the media and I just try turn a blind eye and stay positive and look at how sweet it will be when we turn it around and we will. I saw a conspiracy theory the other day that the media corporations intentionally tank the game's value to stop it costing too much. If rugby league were to reach its potential, the Australian media companies wouldn't be able to afford to buy the broadcasting rights from the NRL.
