The most disappointing thing...

apart from the club having gone backward, is the fact that unlike many others in our "class" we've got nothing by way of talent coming through the ranks. I know our lower grades have done well but the step in class eludes them (based on what I've seen). We are also unable to buy any established talent (look at the Dogs for example) so I can't for the life of me see what there is waiting for us next year, apart from more of the same. Hence to have nothing to look forward to is quite depressing, at present...

Yep. If I were gambler I'd be putting money on it.
There is no light at the end of the tunnel atm - coach unrest, players with no heart, white ants eating at whatever fabric is left, no recruitment for next year.
The only possible hope isthe juniors start working out. (Never want to see Cini or Madden back in FG - they just don't cut it.)

Maybe it not so much a step up in class, it's a step up in attitude that is required. A will to win, to bleed for the club and its fans and members.
In my humble opinion the club has plenty of talent, it's just 1st grade lacks the passion and energy.
Is that the coaches job?

Don't think KOE team had any outstanding talent close to NRL ready.

Defence is all about effort and attitude. Our defence is extremely poor. What has me beat is why they are so lethargic, effortless with a don’t care less attitude week in week out. They just go through the motions. Very disappointing to watch.
It’s like they need a rocket up them every time they run out on the field. Prior to game yesterday Sam Thaiday said dogs warm up had much more intensity than the Tigers. For that reason he said he was tipping the dogs. Sums up the playing group as a whole. Mentally not there again as their minds weren’t on the game. This has happened far too often during the season.
Something has to change.

Three things that happened this year tell me how bad the attitude and care factor of our players are;

- cowboys game at leichardt
- letting players that score in the corner
, run round around and score almost untouched under the posts ( pretty sure it was in the warriors and sharks games when our season was on the line )
- watching wakeham push at talau on the ground and not one tiger player does anything about it ( compare that to the warriors game where 18 year Reece Walsh runs in to protect his team mate)

I’m off the madge train. But I can tell you I’m more disgusted by our playing group. What an overpaid bunch of spoilt brats who are more worried about not messing their hair then getting in their and letting rip.

The kids in jersey flegg show more potential than the kids Maguire played. We missed a golden opportunity to play 2 or 3 of these jersey flegg kids late in the year , just of the bench for 5 or 10 mins a game. We are putrid at nrl level, we were getting pumped anyway, it would have hopefully inspired these young kids to think to themselves I’m a real chance of nrl next year, and really put some proper pressure on some very underwhelming nrl contracted players. It also helps you keep these talented kids that you want to keep. This is the biggest mistake the club made in my opinion in the second half of the year.

Your last point resonates with me. Watching Wakeham going at Talau on the ground yesterday pissed me off bad. It's exactly a culture thing and it happened in the SOO in 2020 when Jai Arrow roughed up a concused Teddy and no one ran in to help. Our culture sucks ass and its backed up by piss weak losers on the field. The Storm wouldve been in giving it to Wakeham if it was done to them but not us.

First ones to go are Brooks (i wonder if this dude even has a brain, his blank stare is worrying) and Nofa (his first reaction is to blame someone else). I think they are both white ants and have witnessed too many coaches depart under their bog average personal performances.

Was this possible with the qld bubble?

I think they would have to have gone to Qld when the bubble was established or like JTJ not long afterwards

the most disappointing thing is that this club has a soft underbelly that has remained for the past 10 years. it has cost us multiple finals appearances due to our inconsistency and the recruitment and retention of a number of good players.

I have no doubt our admin are working overtime to fix the stadium situation and our stance as a development club. but until we teach this playing group some resilience we will continue on this slide. is Madge the answer? the wins and losses columns say no. the players are very much to blame, but they aren't listening to him, and it didn't take a documentary to work that out either.
