The Power of Beau

Every team needs a player like Beau. You all know the guy I'm talking about…average ability at best but good for team morale. First in for a bum tap after a mistake, first in for a man hug after a try, or even a man jump & hug after a very good try.

Just think of all the great teams over the years and the common thread is the 'Beau /Joe Average'

Aussie cricket team - tick - they had Justin Langer (midget type character with a massive man crush on Haydos)
Aussie rugby team - tick - they had Matt Dunning (fat guy made good who seemed to always be ten seconds late to the breakdown)
Broncos of the mid 2000's - tick - Shane Perry (who??)
The list could go on

So lets celebrate the cult of Beau and be thankful we have him as our 'Minister in Charge of Making the Other Players Happy'

You know I was thinking about this the other day and I agree 100%…There is the off chance that 1 in 10 games or so he does something freakish....He is due...

Go BEAU..

P.S.. I think you under rate JL a tad...but yeah someone you want in the trenches beside you...

Beau is so inconsistent. He has done some things on the footy field that are mind blowing. I don't get it, he's naturally skilled but he seems to be completely unconfident in his ability. Strange thing to say since we all know he is very charismatic and seemingly confident but I think it's a front.

Your Shane Perry stat is terrible.

He will go down as the worst halfback to own a Premiership ring. Hardly inspirational, I just think he was a lucky guy.

The issue with Beau is how his first 5 minutes go. If he does something good, his confidence will rise and he'll have a killer game. If he does something bad/average, well, he'll have a bad/average game.

I like him, but even then, I'm not sure whether he should be 2nd choice winger to Lote. I think Brown/Daniella at wing with Wade in the team would easily suffice.

I read somewhere a while ago that Beau has a reported 140-150 IQ - not sure how true that actually is… However sometimes that high IQ behaviour shows. Some of the more freakish things he has done seem mind blowing, but like most high iq people, can be a case of all dollars, no sense...

Hes just one of those players with next to no ability who gives it there all and does their best. I often think of him as a Luke Covell type player who scores some decent try every now and then but lacks ability and speed.

he has proven this year even with his lack of pace he can still be an asset. unfortunately this confidence/ability whatever seems to of disappeared as quickly as andy dufrene

I love Beau and think he is great for the team as a whole. while he is not the quickest winger around he gives his all each week and as someone said is always the first player there to either congratulate or try and pick up a player who has made a mistake. i hope he has a huge finals series and puts a few of his knockers back in their box.

Just my take on Langer, as he annoyed the hell out of me and also seemed a little special. For accuracy purposes, I will amend Langer and give you Andy Bichel. A tremendous Gatorade mixer and capable 12th man

BEAU CONFIDENT OF A GOOD FINALS SHOWING
9/09/2010 11:13:09 AM
Wests Tigers winger Beau Ryan is confident the team can not only beat the Sydney Roosters but go a long way in this year's Telstra Premiership finals.

Ryan says the Roosters will be a stern test but a victory over them at the SFS this Saturday night would put the side in a very good position.

He says the players not only want to do it for themselves and the supporters but also for their family and friends.
