This year already there are 51 players listed as injured for this weekends action. that is two nrl squads worth of players. this could be a potential positvie for NRL Expansion within the next few years. you cant say that the teams that are names for this weekends actions are under done and still very hard to pick a winner. with the NYC providing a very good young talent pool available to the NRL squads i feel an additional two teams could work quite easily if they are given enough time time to develop an NYC team before the NRL squad is introduced. This would allow the younger players to start to develop a culture to build on and could allow the ever growing young talent that is available to further their careers. obviously it would lead to some complication for match scheduling for the year in which it happens but could only help the clubs in the future. looking at the players listed as unavailable for this weekend 3 squads of 17 could be named

Obviously the squads get weaker as we go down the list but there are players such as Willie Mason and ex pats who have gone to ESL or union a chance to come back and play in a top flight NRL team. also look at players like Junior Moors, Mitch Brown, Geoff Daniela, Jacob Miller, George Rose, Will Chambers, Robert Lui, Chad Townsend, Maurice Blair all plying there trade in the NYC, QLD Cup or NSW Cup this weekend. The depth is there, the audience is there and a real chance for the game to expand into Perth and in my opinion a South Island NZ Team but thats a debate for another time
