The start of something?

After years of "character building" seasons, that feeling of quiet satisfaction at a sunny Campbell Town Oval is exactly what we have been waiting for.

This may be something in the making - and not just the dawn of a new West Tigers team but that of an entire club. Perhaps this jigsaw, riddled with seemingly unmatchable pieces, is starting to come together. We are beginning to breathe fresh air instead of (what many were starting to think of) the stench of a corpse.

Make no mistake, though - the next few games, starting this Saturday, are going to be a test of whether, to quote from a song. we have too much heaven on our minds.

From the game today, there are many, many positives to be taken. We can build on these, without thinking that we have reached the top of the mountain.

I remain hopeful.

This is a good footy side now but still have improvement in them. There is a combination of reasons why they are playing well.
Very good coaching. Any negative comments of Benji coaching ability are now wide off the mark as he is proving to be a great coach in waiting.
Good tactics
Great recruitment over these last couple of yesrs
High fitness levels
Playing as a team
Much improved defence
Individual improvement in all players.
Better fan support which helps team morale and harmony to play in front of each week.
Good mixture of experienced and young players
Good backups in virtually all positions.
A game doesn’t make a season but the signs going forward are positive.
Even with some pivotal players out injured the replacement players are playing well with skill and heart.
Anything else that might be relevant?

Could (and stress could) also be that some of the more established clubs are starting to show signs of wear and tear? eg Storm, Souths, Canberra??
