The success of Inglis and Morris at Fullback

Looking at Inglis' and Morris' successful switches to the 1 jersey I think it might an interesting option to throw Lote at Fullback.

Now I know Tuqiri will be short of a run when he returns but he still is all class and has the experience to link up with the outside backs.
In open space I can see him doing the same damage both Inglis and Morris have done in the last 2 weeks!

By giving him a license to roam it may just bring out the best in him.

Leave Moltzen at halfback, he will come good, remember he hasn't been a regular halfback for a couple of seasons.

Before that his combo with Benji was nearly unbeatable.

This probably will never eventuate but this early in this season it's worth a shot…

John Grant.

Not now, but eventually. I think he should be groomed to play there for sure.

Lote's gotta get on the field first. I don't why people are calling Inglis at fullback a masterstroke, its just common sense. Especially at a team like Souths who have no halves, therefore starving him of possession. If it wasn't for Slater, Inglis would have been fullback at the Storm, and he'd be the best fullback in the world

What about Tedesco?

I agree. Fullback will be musical chairs unless Humble really fires or Sheens moves Moltzen. 2013 will see Tedesco there all year (bar injuries. Fingers crossed)

chrissy to our fullback spot ., reddy to centre , just until james gets back , and i agee with grn4life inglis in any club would be fullback , big , strong , tall , and runns like a train

Ingles(1 centre) to fullback = success
Lawrence(top 3 centre) to fullback = hopefully same result…..and we have a quality centre in reddy to replace him

Lawrence doesn't have the motor to play fullback. He's struggling just to get through a game in the centres at the moment. Grant would be interesting, not that I'd be throwing him in there right now, but with his size and pace, it would be interesting.

2 games doesnt constitute a successful move… This is no different to when Moltzen played 7 a few years back and had a good win ratio and everyone was calling for him to be the next Immortal. :unamused:

Opposition Coaches will need time to decide how to set a defensive pattern or find ways to minimise thier impact from there. This is the main contributing factor why we see 2nd year syndrome. The flashy kid everyone talks about rarely has a game plan set to shut them down. But next year... 😕

As its early in the season, I'm sure coaches will be busy watching 1000 videos over the next month trying to work on ideas or ways to reduce thier impact. I'd say by the end of the year we will be able to judge if both these moves are a success.

In saying that, I've always been a big fan of Inglis at Fullback and feel this is his natural position. The only guy in our Squad that would be a Superstar at Fullback is Benji Marshall. I wouldnt be moving him yet, but if we did buy a Cronk/Thurston, only then would I consider such a move.

Yep.

I reckon you put your best runner of the footy to fullback. We have 2 choices - Benji and Lawrence. Benji in the halves is fine by me. Lawrence at 1 would work.

A back 3 of:-
1\. Lawrence
2\. Ryan
5\. Tuqiri

would get us off to a good start to every set.

If you add Benji and Moltzen in the halves we look dangerous. I'd like to see some speed in the centres and even on the wings though. Our backline looks a little slow.

Writing this out also makes me realise how much we rely on Benji and possibly a firing Lawrence. The rest of them bar Ryan are inconsistent.

Lawrence at fullback would really work, he's strong, fast and knows how to score! Why not?

Lawrence is probably in the top 3 centers in the NRL at his best I would like to see him stay there and get some form back like the sound of a fit Lotte at full back tho

I think attacking wise he is probably top 5 but defensively he is the best 1 on 1….
Everyone said inglus was out of form in the centers but now in form at the back.... Really he's just getting more ball and more quality
