The Ultimate Power Play - NO DEAL

The media seems to be repeating the same line here - "If Ivan wants to go you can't stop him"…

Well actually, we can.

By putting out foot down it shows we aren't going to roll over as a club.

By saying NO - it actually puts the pressure back on Nathan to sign with the tigers and the clearys to go back to the drawing board.

The ball is in our court...... I really hope our management has some ticker here and plays hard.... no money can compensate what we lose if Ivan goes...

It's beyond money.... It's principle now.

He sold us a dream, we should make him deliver.

Yep, I said this in another thread. We aren’t powerless here. If we hang tough and think smart, we can still position ourselves to make a big play for Nathan.

I agree, but whatever the outcome, it has taken the shine off Ivan and made me dislike a club (Panthers) who I have previously claimed as my possible second team.

Gus Gould can get… a hair cut.

Cmon Gallagher your always telling us to to not aspire to mediocrity?

What has Gus bought to Penrith from a football results point of view point that people are going to remember?

Sacking a coach running equal 4th? re-signing a coach until 2020 and then having to pay him out for 2.5 seasons ! Sacking a coach in 2015 and then wanting him back with 2 years left on his contract at a rival club?

If that were our club you would be saying what a circus surely ?!

7 Years as Chief Football Man, No Premierships, 4 coaches, average 10-11K crowds and ok membership numbers.

There doing well off the field and had decent results but Gus was bought into win a comp,, and he is going through as many coaches as we do.

That's a fair assessment Eddie. I'm just being a bit mischievous. I'm finding the whole thing a bit of a laugh, probably as I'm not really sold on Cleary. He's getting a lot of interest just because of his son.
If Nathan was at the roosters Gus would have no interest in Ivan.

But I'd still rather Gus running our club than our current mob.

Either way if NC re-signs with Penrith then IC will just sign with Penrith once his contract expires here
I can’t see IC leave us after all that he has said to us fans, he dosent seem like the person to walk out on a club when he has signed a contract
Unless he is unwanted at the club and the club tells him to leave

So Ivan and Nathan reluctantly play for the tigers till 2020 then bail as soon as they can and go play for

A)their true home club, the panthers
B)where the money is at, the roosters

Jeez. That doesn't excite me.
The coach and most important player of the team playing with no heart for a club they don't care about and don't want to be at.

I have no enthusiasm for a Cleary family reunion at the Tigers. The shine has gone. I held up Ivan as a man of integrity- bringing the right people and the right attitude to our club. It’s looking like I was wrong

Is this an Ivan Cleary thread…?

I believe we need to separate the issues here.

This thread relates to the strength/weakness of our club.

How serious are we or do we just go along for the ride and get dictated to?

Agree. Nathan wants to be a Panther and his dad wants to coach him there.- and now! That ends it for me. I don't see how he can possibly coach us from now on.
We just have to make sure we come out of it in the best way we can by attacking the Panthers and getting them for whatever we can, and then go get Maguire a premiership winning coach.

I think Ivan will be in a more hated position than Sonny Bill was when he walked out on the bulldogs….

... Possibly the most hated person in the game.

Only by us. No one else will care in a year.

Mate, have a browse elsewhere.
A lot of people are NRL fans as a whole as well as following the club they follow.

A lot of people backing the tigers here… Talkin sport was on fire tonight. League unlimited and zero tackles all pretty united....

Lol.

To be honest, if we can find an adequate replacement, let him go. As previously said, the entire shine is gone of IC if he wants to sign with penrith. Good for him. The grass is greener there.
