The Wooden Spoon battle

Probably not surprising to anyone - We are now spoon favourites on SportsTAB.

Wests Tigers 2.75
Newcastle 3.25
Manly 4.50
Gold Coast 7.50
Parramatta 9.00
Canberra 26.00

However, Tigers are $151 to win the comp. We were famously that price 10 years ago.

As I said 2 weeks ago we WILL be on the bottom after this round, I took the good odds 6 weeks ago about us winning the spoon…..........I too, am sick and tired of all the excuses like" we are building on the future" and "give them time, they are only kids"
Well, we have been " building" since 2005, TEN YEARS!! and if they are only "KIDS" put them in under 20's and get some better talent!!

feel like there is too much talent in this squad to get tthe spoon.. we'll have a couple more unexpected wina for sure

It seems that the club is short on coaching talent.

Are you serious!…......are you looking at the right team (TIGERS)

The "word talent is not in the Tigers manual"

Pity we can't back to the "old days" when you got paid more for winning than for losing, THEN, watch the talent come to the surface! (or get another job to supplement your income)

We got the BYE in hand…

It's all up to you Geo. Every time you've picked Parra they've lost, when you haven't picked them, they've won. If your bad record with them keeps up, then we'll be off the bottom of the ladder after tomorrow night, but what's the bet, your luck will now suddenly change :unamused:

Also we have a 48 point positive for and against margin over Newcastle who are actually currently in last place.

No they are not, we are alone in last, and thank you JT deservedly so.

Ok - we believe you oh! wise one with your Crystal ball that 2 weeks ago knew we would be last. Such foresight.

Could you please outline all the better talent we need to get?

From where? outside the club? Inside the club?

Who are they? and how much do they cost?

Lastly, as we do not have any money - which back are the WT going to rob?

It has been a very very long time since the Weststigers management have made many good decisions and the appointment of the great salesman Taylor could go down as the most devastating call made!
Wake up it is all spin No Money ..Need 700 games to become a decent NRL player…the quality of the so called Junior Talent it is all spin people!!!! It has been the inability of quality leadership in the management area for over a decade that will drive the club to its first wooden spoon .
I do not take mediocrity lightly in fact I deplore it,what I see at the moment is a coach that was appointed on what he had to say rather than what he had achieved at coaching level.
If Taylor does lead the team to the wooden spoon he should be sacked after the last game no ifs no buts it is time that certain types took some responsibility for the slow decline to the BOTTOM of the heap WELL DONE!

My attention has gone from Taylor to the people who appointed him. They had to choose between some decent candidates, trouble was they lacked the real rugby league knowledge to make a rugby league decision. In the end they made what appeared to be the best business decision.

With regards to your last question WT are in the same position as the Greek banks so WT can forget about robbing those banks.

According to tonight's NRL ladder as below and as provided on tonight's NRL website Wests Tigers are second last not last. This is due to Wests Tigers superior for and against as compared to Newcastle. Both Wests Tigers and Newcastle have had five wins and ten losses. Newcastle get the second round bye points at the end to this weeks round (17) whilst Wests get the second round bye points at the end of next weeks round (18). Newcastle are outsiders for their match against Canberra in round 18, so even if WT lose to Parra tomorrow (and this may not occur) Wests Tigers will still be above Newcastle at the end of round 18\. It is still too premature to concede that at season end we will have the wooden spoon.

Pos. Club P W D L B F A +/- Pts.
15 Wests Tigers 15 5 0 10 1 277 313 -36 12
16 Newcastle 15 5 0 10 1 280 364 -84 12

That is incorrect mate , as of this moment we are last .
Newcastle have had 2 byes and sit on 14 points !
Let's pray we beat Parra !!
