Like others, a bit out of my depth to make an informed comment on what direction the site takes, so happy to trust your judgement.

The only worthwhile comment I can make is that I like a clean easy to navigate layout that will not change once over to the new format. I look at what the NRL did and shake my head, but I understand they were looking to have a unified look across their sites.

Had a look at the 2 examples, sort of got lost in them to be honest, but changing to a new system would solve the SQL data errors that have been cropping up when things get a little busy on the live game feed

Kul, I appreciate your work… BUT!!!

"There be demons here". Many have posted above saying similiar too "You're doing a great job, I trust in you making changes... But I have no idea what they mean." That is not a reason to change.

Clearly we need an upgrade, tech has moved on (am I the only one on netscape here?). But lets Beta test a new site forum.
Surely it isn't too hard to whip up a domain and server to just try a new site layout. Lets see the changes/features you would do, we tweak them and push to the live site once people are comfortable.

I'm in the space too, so I know how hectic data migrations can be. Let me know if you need a hand with the data transformation when you get there.

Kul you're a legend… let's keep our forum the envy of the other clubs - I say go for it!

Reading your post, and understanding a little of it, love the sound of the live updates etc and I see that it works a bit like Facebook in so far as showing the viewer what they are most interested in. This would be handy - as long as it is still easy to check out the entire forum... I don't like the way that Facebook almost 'herds' people - and if you have a lot of friends on FB it can be easy to miss out on some good stuff because you are directed to other posts.

It sounds like all of you guys have the users best interests at heart, so I am grateful just to be able to read other WT fan's thoughts and post my own on here. Whatever you decide is great by me! Also I would be happy to support the idea of member subscription if that would help to raise funds for ongoing work.

Agree with the previous comments. Kul, we owe you a big debt of thanks for the work you do to make this forum work so well. The moderators do a great job too.
I missed this entire thread when it started in May this year and I'm not sure why. Like a number of members I'm a bit of a Luddite when it comes to IT and I'm more than happy to leave it to those 'in the know' to decide the best way forward. If a financial contribution is necessary to cover the cost of the software and server, I'm happy to kick in.

Hi Kui, of course leave up to your judgement but I prefer the old page style. In another site the threads go on forever and you sort of have no clue where you are. It could when you re-open you go back to where last got out and the messages are numbered for e.g. 5550/infinity and you soon forget that. Whereas on v bulletin (used by local chess sites) you can remember roughly where you were. Just getting to the end of infinity threads are a nightmare, you can't use "control end" or page end and scrolling down forever every time that you visit.

I am only a slight user of facebook (bar all friends) but hate their format as well. you have to scroll down and it keeps going up in the background reloading - hate it. Regards

The reason for me asking about the progress is I would love to be the guinea pig to test it and I am sure a lot of the other regular posters would love to test it as well.

A big THANK YOU for everything that you do with this forum. Also, shout out to the mods who keep everything in order. I don't say much in here but I visit everyday and this is how I keep up with what's going on at WT land.
