Boy oh boy, can't even take a joke? Try not to take things so seriously Yoss. Way to ruffle the feathers Col. Sure to get a few stern, humorless responses like this one with that comment

It may have been funny the first 1000 times, it gets tired after a while. People are asked to be respectful of issues important to Magpies supporters so the same should go both ways. All this kind of stuff results in is pages of flame wars between posters. Seriously would it be hilarious if I popped into every thread pushing a pro-Magpie line with a post saying we should get rid of the ugly magpie on our sleeves and stop playing in the boondocks out at Campbo?

Just stick to the old hubcaps line Yoss. That one always gets a nibble

True… Rather avoid the whole issue to be honest. My car has always been intact after games out there. Not that the ground strictly speaking is in Campbelltown...

All I am saying is what happens if Balmain cannot pay their way?

Legitimate question. Remember, the person who pays the piper, calls the tune.

There is a great Leagues Club and football ground at Gosford.

Yeah, amateur hour was yesterday Col.

The only thing amateur about this matter is the Leagues Club developers.

There is no way that this will be passed by the Greens. It will take a protracted Court case which they may win. Then again they may not. Then there is the appeal process. Another few years and big dollars for legal Counsel.

In the meantime, who pays the Balmain side of things?

If West have to pay the freight, then they will own the club, lock, stock and barrel. Wests Magpies anyone?

Yes please.

It's a silly question - by that logic the NRL could move us to Darwin seeing as though they contribute more than Wests Leagues do. You know it won't happen so why bother with that line?

The junior leagues and the community programs that rely on the funding will be the most affected I would say.

That is the sad truth of it Staks.

It was a community asset first and foremost and the junior sporting community and the organisations Tigers Rozelle allowed to use their premises for negligible charge in aid of genuine community needs is sorely missed

All jokes aside, all personal views aside…. This issue is a somewhat serious matter for all parties and stakeholders in WT.

It certainly has the possibility to be.

There are a few more acts to play out in the Rozelle development let alone other avenues before iteffects WT

Seems like the WT chairman, WT coach and WT players find it an important matter:

I agree the leagues club needs to come back but the scale of the current model is way too big. The area doesn't need more shops.
A leagues club with apartments is sufficient. on behalf of the local business owners who are struggling, they don't need more competition and the traffic is bad enough around that area thank you very much.
The "greenie" supporters are actually the ones that have sense in them and are not blow ins at all. Notice how balmain/Rozelle has only one subway and an Oporto?? That's the character of the area and it always has been. I've lived in this area my whole life and I like the community aspect. People are friendly. It's unique. You will lose that with a mega shopping centre.
You can have your own opinion but try looking at it from everyone's perspective please.

The current model needs to be modified to cater for the community

I am almost 100% ceratin that early in talks with council the leagues club was asked by council to provide a supermarket into the development as the Balmain/Rozelle area was lacking such facilities.

I grew up in Balmain and it was a great place to live, unfortunately for me and a large number of people I grew up with it is not long financially viable to live in the area.

Yes the current model needs to be scaled back a bit but I for one are very glad the decision on the project will not be made by Leichhardt Council. The master plan for the site allowed for 12 storey buildings and they rejected an 11 storey proposal. I heard the mayor recently say a project on the site should not be more than 3 levels. The currrent Leichhardt Councilers are living in fairy land and are the bigest NIMBY's I have ever seen.

I have faith the Planning Commision will approve a project that will enhance the area and will be of a big enough scale to make it viable. I also think Leichhartd Councilers will be wingering about it for years.

I really hope that Balmain Leagues Club use Friday nights game to promote people to make a submission supporting the return of Balmain Leagues to its rightfull home.

It certainly puts the Tele article from Jan ino context.

And I"m sure Balmain will find the funding somewhere.

And I want Wests and Balmain to maintain seperate shareholdings in this JV forever. We created this "new" club and are very much a part of it and must always continue to be.
