does anyone else get annoyed at seeing players throwing or kicking the ball away when there has been a knock on/ forward pass etc… to try to slow the game down?
Players will even sometimes throw the ball away from an opposing player who is coming to get it. This is obviously within the rules but isnt a very good sign of sportsmanship.
I know this will get alot of people fired up but i moved from sydney to country victoria a few years ago and have sinced watch alot of AFL and they have a few things in their game which i think the NRL could look at adopting....
#1\. when a free kick is awarded to the opposing team, if you have the ball you must kick, throw, pass the ball directly to the team that has been awarded the free kick. If this doesnt happen then it is a 50m penalty. A normal penalty would do in the NRL.
#2\. when a goal is kicked or the ball is out of play the clock stops and restarts again when the game is restarted. id like to see the clock stop when there is a try, a drop out or when the ball is kicked into touch in general play.... so much time gets wasted when players take their time for a line drop out(i know they have a time limit but still...) and just strolling to a scrum. The referee stops the clock when one side packs their scrum so why cant it be done all the time?
Something id like to see that isnt in the either code is if the referee deems an incident worthy of going on report then maybe that player gets 5mins in the sin bin?
I dont think its fair that the team the infringment occurs against is only awarded a penalty but if the infringing player is suspended then the opposing team next week benefits aswell. A good example is the spear tackle on inglis. all souths got was a penalty, where the next few teams that play the bulldogs dont have to face krisnan inu......
sorry if these have been covered in other posts........
