Tiger Talk column: Liam Fulton

Liam Fulton is this week's guest columnist for the Tiger Talk column.

The colum appears each Wednesday as part of a special Wests Tigers section in the Campbelltown Advertiser.

TIGER TALK
A new week means a new opposition for Wests Tigers.

As a player in a team that is struggling for a victory, you have to remain very positive that things will turn. And we know it will. Like all things in life, hard work pays off and we are doing plenty of this at training.

No one likes to lose, and it is even harder to take when you have lost six in a row. But like I said, it will turn. It has to.

I thought our first half performance in the loss to the Sharks was pretty solid. We played some very good attacking football and the signs were good for the second half.

We came out confident at 6-all but some poor mistakes by us combined with some disappointing defence saw the Sharks jump away to an 18-6 lead very quickly. From there,we were chasing our tails and the harder we tried, the less it came off.

When you get beaten, you certainly do look at your own performance and the team’s. We have done plenty of soul searching this week and know what we need to improve and play for the full 80 minutes.

This week, we face another big challenge in the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium. The Rabbitohs are the form team of the competition and naturally, where they sit on the ladder, will be very hard to beat. But it is not impossible. If you think negative, you have already lost the battle in your mind.

Their forward pack is very big and those Burgess brothers certainly add plenty of starch to their side. They drive off their momentum and we will have to be on our game defensively to try and shut them down, otherwise their slick backs will get plenty of ball.

Greg Inglis has been a revelation for them at full-back and is such a champion player. He can be a real handful to pull down if you give him plenty of space.

This will be another good test for us and I’m confident we can turn things around. You have to be, like I said before. If we work hard for each other and focus on our game, then you are halfway towards winning.

Souths and the Wests Tigers have always had a good rivalry and it will be the same on Friday night. We know the Souths fans will be out in force so I encourage our supporters to stick with us and get to the ground in numbers. We need your support like never before.

To make it easier for our fans who are not members, there is a special two game Wests Tigers membership deal that provides general admission seating for the Souths match and our home game the following Friday night at Leichhardt Oval when we tackle the North Queensland Cowboys. It’s great value. I hope we can get a win up to make it even more special.

reading that made me wanna chuck a tenner on the +20.5 at the TAB….but I dont think i will. Hate betting on my team, especially recently, cause if the tigs lose the pain gets doubled by losing your money too.

This article reminds me of something ive noticed with Souths, they tend to drop off towards the end of the 1st half it seems, halftime has done them woders, maguire must rip into them and they often come out and blitz teams

Betting wise im staying right away from this game but I think theres a lot of value this w/end
