TIGER TALK: LOTE TUQIRI
Thursday 14 June 2012 6:43 PM
Wests Tigers winger Lote Tuqiri says he is very much looking forward to playing at Leichhardt Oval this Sunday.
In the Club's weekly Tiger Talk column in the Campbelltown Advertiser, Tuqiri says there is a good feeling within the team.
LOTE'S LOWDOWN
G’day Wests Tigers fans – I hope you are as happy as my team-mates and I are at this stage of the season.
Seven straight wins feels good and the way we grinded out a very tough 10-6 victory over the Melbourne Storm on Friday night was very, very pleasing. Sure they were without Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk, and Cameron Smith because of Origin duty but we didn’t have our inspirational leader in NSW hooker Robbie Farah and lost Tim Moltzen in the pre-game warm up. We also were without Gareth Ellis and Matt Groat through injury.
As for the win itself, the cold, wet conditions made it tough going but I thought both teams played some very exciting football. I always thought we were in control of the game and our two quick tries straight after half-time really did set us for victory. Mind you, the Storm gave us a late scare but I thought we fully deserved the two competition points.
With that game behind us, we move on to this Sunday and a big clash against cross town rivals the Sydney Roosters at Leichhardt Oval.
It promises to be a great atmosphere as always at Leichhardt Oval and if you don’t have a reserved seat, then let me tell you about a special offer the Wests Tigers have called the ‘Leichhardt Double’.
Four additional bays of reserved seating have been installed on the Eastern Concourse at Leichhardt Oval. These blue bucket seats were taken from The Noble Stand at the SCG as part of the major reconstruction undergoing at the famous cricket ground.
The seats look fantastic and are located in front of the hill. The ‘Leichhardt Double’ offer supporters the chance to secure a reserved seat for the Roosters and the Melbourne Storm game in round 26 for just $90.
By purchasing the Leichhardt Double you will become a proud member of the Wests Tigers. You will receive a 2012 membership pack and will be entitled to exclusive member benefits.
This includes priority purchase of tickets for the 2012 NRL Finals Series, including the Grand Final, which will go on sale to members only on July 24 before being extended to the general public. This new package is the only way to secure your very own reserved seat at Leichhardt Oval.
I encourage supporters to act quickly and call the friendly Wests Tigers Membership team on (02) 8741 3000 or email <membership@weststigers.com.au>. You can also buy tickets through weststigers.com.au
As a team, we know we still have plenty of improvement in us and we want to continue to build on the momentum we have built up over the past few weeks. The Roosters are always a tough side.
With their captain Braith Anasta joining Wests Tigers next season, I am sure he will be up for a massive game and they have some very dangerous backs who we will have to keep an eye on.
Gates open at 11.45am, NYC Kick-off is 12.45pm, and NRL starts at 3pm.I hope to see you there.
