They rate him the heir to Cam Smith.

The whole swap deal was to fast track his NRL experience.

There is no way the Storm are going to release him to join us for three years.

Brandon Smith is seen as a 13.

Grant is seen as their 9 for a decade.

My thoughts exactly. Unless he throws a tantrum I doubt they release him - but do we really want a fella who’ll throw a tantrum for a release?

Depends on the reason.
He knows he will get the game time he wants at the tigers, and if Cam Smith goes again next season no one can blame the kid for wanting to move on.
I Can’t see him Leaving but if he wants out for the above reason, then it’s tantrum worthy.
Lots of players move clubs for that reason.

If Smith plays on he’s got a clause in his contract where he can get a release apparently, so no tantrum required lol.

This will be Smith’s last season and Grant will be the no9 in 2021 at the Storm. Can not see the Storm releasing him without Momo and that deal is a dead duck..or at least that is what is being reported.

Personally I am willing to take a bit of pain this year and keep a pathway open for Simkins and Liddle..that’s if the swap flops

Smith is the best future hooker in the comp i dont know why grant would stay or smith be happy with backrow

Harry was impressive but so too was Brandon Smith. If Cam Smith retires Then Harry still has Brandon in front of him.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Can't see how Grant could stay at the storm this season. His morale would be shattered if he did and he'd have no experience to benefit them. He'd be long odds to stay but still likely to be one year at this stage I reckon

Did I read, Monday is the day Grant is requesting a release for this season?

I haven’t seen that, but Storm likely don’t release him until after round 1, but I doubt they do it anyway.

Well cannot see why Storm would not just loan him to the Tigers for just this season. Its good for the player to get experience, and he will be better experience for the Storm in 2021.

Don’t think they would consider that. It Would not create cap space for them with one player short on roster.

It would give then enough cap space equivalent to what they are paying for Grant. Its also keeping Grant happy so that he does not decide to leave the club.

The big question long term will be Brandon Smith and how happy he would be in the back row.

IMO he is, right now, the best hooker in the game. Yes, the best.

He is good enough to be a world class 13 also, which is maybe what the Storm plan long term.

Harry Grant 9
Brandon Smith 13

But whether Smith will be happy with that remains to be seen.

Personally, I'd throw everything at Brandon Smith, if at all possible, and even offer him the captaincy with us.

He's one of a few very exciting players to watch at the moment in my opinion.
He's lethal.

With the runs from Smith last night from dummy half, there is no way I would be moving him out of the 9. He should have his hands on the ball as much as possible.

2 tries to Smith against the Indigenous all stars
He is Melbourne's future 9 when Cameron departs
Release Grant to us Bellamy
If Smith wants the 9 jersey we should let him know we are keen for his services
Off the record of course
That will at least put pressure on Melbourne to release Grant

Brandon Smith would be great, but once again, can't see him signing with a club like us. He's only going to play with one of the big clubs. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try tho I guess.

I am looking forward to seeing Brooks captain.

The crazineess is well and truly back. Meltdowns over Nines and trial losses, now we need to throw the kitchen sink, including the captaincy to a player whose played less than 50 games because he scored two tries in a Mickey Mouse game. I’m not above making stupid comments, but I feel like Frank Grimes, reading this tripe the last week.

If you can't see that Brandon Smith is already a superstar, then I don't know what to say to you mate...

Captaincy? Yes, and I said that as he has mongrel and leadership skills.

Because of two tries in a 'mickey mouse game'? No...because of two seasons now of elite level footy when on the field.
