Tigers cashing in on Benji's last games

I must be missing something here, but why and how is it that the Tigers expect to cash in on Benji's last few games as many on here have stated as the reason to not drop Benji?

Are we talking tickets sold or is it something I have overlooked?

Personally I think Benji would be keeping ticket sales down. I wouldn't be paying to get into a ground to watch him again. But i would pay to see Brooks debut.

Can someone explain this theory please?

200 games means another memorabilia range that the masses will eat up along with retrospective signed picture collages etc.

I feel exactly the same way Tooth. I was until a few weeks ago a Beni true believer. But seeming him clearly sulking away on the field I can no longer support such attitude. I believe that there are many, many supportors who feel the same way I do. How are West Tigers going to cash in on a spoilt brat?

Dropping him would see a mass of negative press shift to the club, away from benji…at a time when there is plenty already.
The negative press is solely with Benji as it stands.

Because while we're all old enough to know better, there's a legion of kids out there who don't understand the circumstances and will show up en masse to farewell him and have their parents buy up whatever Marshall related merchandise that might be on offer.

It's not just that they will cash in on him, the club has nothing to lose by leaving Marshall in the side. They dump him and the media vultures will circle and pounce on the move as a childish & vindictive reaction to him leaving.

I dont think the theory holds much weight.

I think the Tooth is right that attendances are down due to the way he is playing as well as the team as a whole…we are a rabble at the moment and thoroughly deserve our position on the ladder.

I just want the next 3 weeks to hurry up so he can move on and we can get back to rebuilding a side that can compete.

By now, most media outlets are saying the Tigers have no option but to dump Benji.

While there was lots of criticism for the Souths game I really don't think too many would complain based on his current performance levels and attitude.

Don,t be naive with what's happening at the sharks the DT would hammer Potter and the club to fill the pages so the sharks get the free ride .

You've got to buy a ticket to shout at Mick Potter I guess. Maybe they could do a special 3 game lynch mob pass.

Perry Como had a hit song in the late fifties called "Catch a Falling Star". It sadly reminds me of the goings on of the last six weeks.

I agree with you BB …..... todays paper says pretty much as you have summed up above.

Receive a free rope and torch at the gate.

Includes last three games of the season general admission, souvenir daily telegraph show bag with NRL licensed black and orange hangman's hood, 50 bucks the lot, kids under 10 free when they bring their own kerosine. That should bring some bodies through the turnstiles.

I can see the club's point in this and would agree with them

Except Benji is playing worse than NSW cup standard and doesn't even look like he wants to be there

It's just really sad.

If Benji did not have the egotistical attitude and the body language that screams 'I'm the sh**' I would think that the negative press and feelings toward him wouldn't be that bad.

But when you see him on the field verbally blasting other team mates after tries are let in, throwing balls to touch judges and making more errors than the team combined and STILL his pride does not let down, well, it's hard not to expect boos at his farewell game.

would love a packed out stadium cheer on the u/20's then go home at the start of first grade.

would make great tv for a few minutes.

I agree with you 100% with your comment. The Daily Telegraph are honing in on Wests Tigers to divert attention from the very serious accusations made on the Sharks. It is quite likely that the Sharks may lose competition points but neither the Daily Telegraph or the NRL want to highlight this issue. Their agenda is to belt the honest Tigers instead of the cheating Sharks.

they have probably already produced the merchandise…
hence why he keeps playing...
im over it, doesnt matter now anyway. bring on 2014.
