Tigers looking to buy back-up

People need to understand that there are very few NRL quality props running around at the moment who are in a position to be picked up by another club immediately. Joel Clinton in his prime was certainly one of the better props running around and I still remember a winter arvo game at Campbelltown where Skando came rushing out of the line to try and belt Clinton and simply ended up on his backside instead as Clinton charged over the top of him…

Anyway, he may very well be the most viable option of a weak field out there.

Got a feeling their could be a few dogs leaving the kennel at the end of the season, might be just me, but I think the Barba things has left a few deep wounds in the place and while Greenberg smoothed things over outside the club, I still think their are plenty of issues within the club. As I said might be just me, but the body language at Belmore dosnt look good

Supposedly two forwards want out NOW

I hear from a colleague who has family involved in the Bulldogs club and when I asked him he said to me with a smirk on his face that it's Martin Taupau and Dale Finucane that are unhappy. He couldn't confirm if they were talking to the Tigers but it could be what Happy Tiger is referring to.

What are they unhappy about, Tony?

i dunno about AND, we need one GOOD prop. We already have woods, galloway, groat, gavet, buchanan and bell. One more and we are set. We could probably make do this season too, gavet and galloway will be back in the back end and groat is coming back sooinish. But one more would definitely release a lotta pressure for the next 5-10 rounds.

He reckons they are unhappy how David Klemmer is more favoured than them and they will most likely be back in Reggies when Kasiano and ear biter return. He mentioned how hard they have worked coming through the Bulldogs grades and want more opportunity.

If we can get in on it early and sign 1 or both, then that'll be a big boost for our forwards.

i still think our best chance is helping a club sign dugan.
the dragons want dugan, but are doust and humpty professional enough to work out a deal.

Blocker just said on 2GB that we have been trying to sign experienced front rowers, have had approached a couple but their clubs wouldnt realease them

So some were interested in signing with us then?
If the papers get a hold of some names they could mount some pressure on clubs to release player X, especially if they are unhappy. Would be a nice change for the papers to work in our favour and land us a decent signing.

Just checked Shane Shackletons twitter account. He seems keen for an NRL return but it looks as though WT have not made an approach.

If clubs are making it tough for us by not releasing players, I feel we would be best serves trying to sign someone who doesnt have an NRL contract.

We are obviously looking at players like Masoe, Rose etc but someone like Shack would be easier as he doesnt have an NRL contract. It would be only for this season as pure depth.

If Woods makes origin we are in massive trouble…

Clinton would be suitable if he was on a incentive and game payments. If he plays well he get paid well. If he does alright by the end of the year offer him a upgraded contract, but in the clubs favour of course. The two Bulldogs boys would be good to pickup, both big strong boys, young and keen for 1st grade experience too. Tapua look big too. I guess we will have to wait and see how it all pans out. 😛ray:

The season is four weeks old and from our efforts against two of the fancied sides it is obvious that a Joel Clinton,Shackelton or Rose is not going to make any major difference.

So rather than waste money on a player who will probably not make a major difference, start looking at what elite players you may be able to attract to the club in 2014 who will make a difference.Groat will be back soon and Gavert maybe about 8 weeks away. So I say give the kids a go in the meantime, rotate them so they dont burn out and see what you come up with.It has to be a smarter move than trying to reinvent or turn the clock back on a old front rower who is in semi retirement.
