Tigers Matts Defeat Bears

Balmains Harold Matthews team defated the bears 22-0\. While the tigers were never in danger of defeat they did struggle to combine and have some work to do to get any where near the top teams.
Poor options, slow delivery from dummy half and lack of vision kept the 4 pointers from rolling in as they should have. The boys haven't played for a month and this may have affected their performance but they will face a tough test next week down at the Gong against Illawarra.

I have to agree with Flash on this one. The Harold Matts team never looked like losing but they never looked real slick either. Defence was excellent with the Bears never looking like they would score or even break the line but the attack was very ordinary. Dummy half delivery was poor, forwards looked like they weren't quite sure what they where supposed to do in attack and the key positions of 1,7 and 13 looked like they wanted to play the game amongst themselves. Excellent players that they are I'm sure they will quickly learn playing to the same players all the time becomes very predictable. There is a team of talented kids here guys USE THEM. Centres and wingers hardly touched the ball, 2 forwards did the bulk of the attacking while the rest where used as decoys and blocks all day and the five eight seemed like he had glue on his hands. They seem to be struggling in attack at the moment but this team looks like they could be world beaters if they get it right.

I think we are all in agreement the Bears never looked like scoring but defended well.

The ball failed to get past the 6 he played more like a backrower yesterday and service from dummy half was ordinary.

There are options in the squad but if these options are not explored, things won't improve.

The attcked never really got going, the tigers seemed content to just shovel the ball out at times and the limited kicking in general play and last takle options were poor.

Lets hope we can put it down to not having played for a few weeks, bigger and better things to come sooner rather than later we hope.

Just had a look at the NSWRL web site and there appears to be very few changes to the team from last week.

Obviuosly all should be given another chance to improve the attack however, should things not improve greatly against Illawarra they must ring the changes.

It will be interesting to see how the team fires this week with a game now under the belt, I think it will all be fine.

Go the MIGHTY TIGERS
