So, youre happy to give credit to previous admin in bringing these
young players through (as I am ) the same players that dont give you
any hope or confidence for next year??

That'll do me.

All I said was that I'm not letting Mayers hype (re his top 8 prediction) get my hopes up for next season. I made no reference to the players.

Are you working for News Limited at the moment ? They deal in this sort of stuff.

You said more than that.
You basically doubted his credibility, you suggested his viewpoint was inconsistent depending on which media outlet he was talking to….youve basically been talking as if what he said was going to be fact, which the article clearly quoted him as saying it was the clubs 'aim'

Im sure you know the difference

Are you trolling?

That's right …. His viewpoint was inconsistent .... That's how all this started.
You don't want to go though it all over again do you ?

so you're criticising him for being inconsistent, while simultaneously saying he has stated the obvious as well as that the goal is not realistic, "All sixteen CEO's will talk up their clubs for obvious reasons ….. I personally don't like the idea of getting everyone's hopes up just in case something goes wrong"

also casting doubts over his reliability.
"That to me would hold more credibility and is more believable."

Keeping in mind this is a GOAL not a requirement or a prediction.

Yes that's right ….. He was inconsistent in two radio interviews. In one interview he said what was in the newspaper article in this thread and in the interview on 2ky he said the top 8 goal or prediction or however you want to describe it was more realistic the year after.

One of the things I love about our club is the amount of local juniors we keep and bring through the grades. It's really humbling to see guys like Farah who started playing with the Leichhardt Wanderers all those years ago now captain the club and NSW. Can't say the same for the $harks or the Roo$ters…

Just to name a few of the locals...

James Tedesco - Camden Rams
David Nofoaluma - Campbelltown Collegians
Chris Lawrence - Eaglevale St Andrews
Benji Marshall - Don't know if Keebra counts...?!
Aaron Woods - Leichhardt Juniors
Robbie Farah - Leichhardt Wanderers/Enfield Federals
Liam Fulton - Westfield Sports/Greystanes (Parramatta?) but captained Wests SG Ball
Curtis Sironen - Dundas Shamrocks
BMM - Keebra again
Jesse Sue - Macquarie Fields Hawks

And now the next generation with Brooks and Moses both attending Holy Cross, although I believe Moses was a Parra junior at club level?

Pretty good strike rate and speaks volumes of our junior development pathways

Refreshing post Alex.

Also: Nathan Brown- Five Dock????
Manaia Rudolph- Keebra
Kyle Lovett- Leichhardt Wanderers
Matt Woods- Holy Cross
Bayley Sironen- ???
Tim and Paul Simona???

Tim Simona's from Dundas, you'd assume his brother too

Joel Luani is from Five Dock I think?

More backpedalling here than the Tour De France on rewind

Correct on a few

Nathan Brown - Five Dock
Kyle Lovett - Leichhardt Wanderers
Matt Woods - Holy Cross
Tim and Paul Simona came through Doonside and Patrician Brothers Blacktown, so not totally sure they count

I assume Bayley Sironen would be the same as his brother but I tried to keep the list to NRL/NYC.

Ok you win …. There ... Happy now ?
I'll try not to blaspheme again :unamused:

I like that Mayer has set out goals/expectations/pipe dreams. It puts the team on notice somewhat and gives them something to not only aim for, but exceed.

Just because Mayer says he expects a top 8 finish next year, doesn't mean he won't want them aiming for the Grand Final.

Some people are trying to find something in nothing.

Sirro jnr jnr played all his club and school at Cross…but how far are we going back?

Dad coached Curtis at Nth Ryde for several seasons (Curtis finished at Shamrocks when his Nth Ryde side couldnt gain the numbers) before coaching bayleys team at Holy Cross for a couple before moving into admin at balmain Jnrs

David Nofoaluma - Campbelltown Collegians

I got told Nofoaluma was from Collies as well, but in the match where they wore the socks of their junior clubs, I swear he was wearing Warriors socks.

Regardless, a very good point made and that is how Wests Tigers should operate.

Whoops, I said Dundas, I meant Doonside

Doonside is in Wests district is it not?

Oh yeah

I could've sworn I went past Doonside station on the way to Cambo once

Must've actually been going to Penrith

:alcohol:

Like others Iam very excited about where this club is headed over the next few years with the wealth of very good juniors who are coming onto the scene, but Iam also mindful not to get carried away just yet. Plenty of things can go wrong, injuries, second year syndrome and just plain bad luck. On what I have witnessed this year we have a very good team in the making, but I also think we are still well behind the better sides, yes the gap is closing but their still is a considerable gap.

As for Mayer talking things up, thats his job, with eighty minutes of football to go in 2013 all our press is going to dry up in a few days and generating publicity and interest becomes very hard when the final series begins and your not part of it. Anyway his membership drive is on and after 2013 it will not be a easy sell.

I just get the feeling this team just needs a ounce of luckl and things could happen for them a little earlier than a lot of people think.

How dare Mr Mayer being positive about the future …to many here are death riding this club at the moment.Every silly little thing is being scrutinised please answer WHY!

Way too much alcohol,
If you were going to Penrith via Doonside and Campbelltown.
I take you didn't make it to Penrith !

haha

no, I meant that I must've recalled wrong, and I'd been going to a game at Penrith, not Campbelltown, when I passed Doonside

yeah you wouldn't want to catch a train to Penrith by accident, fair walk back to Campbelltown
