In reference to the announcement made by St George Illawarra Dragons of the signing of Tim Moltzen, Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said:

“The fact that the Dragons made the announcement this afternoon has come as a complete surprise to us,’’ Humphreys said.

“We are extremely disappointed that they chose this course of action without any co-ordination or agreement with us.

“We have been in discussions with Tim Moltzen’s manager regarding his future but at this point have not formally agreed to release him from the final year of his playing contract with Wests Tigers.

“The action by the Dragons to make this announcement prematurely and without reference to us is arrogant and disrespectful to our Club and to Tim Moltzen.

“The fact that they made it on the eve of our game tonight is just plain poor form.”

[UPDATE] St George Illawarra issued the following statement via their website on Friday night:

St George Illawarra Dragons CEO Peter Doust has issued the following regarding the signing of Tim Moltzen:

“The announcement today by the Dragons of the signing of Tim Moltzen was based on information relayed to us about Tim's status with Wests Tigers in 2012 and after discussion with Tim and his management,” said Doust.

“Our intention to make this announcement was communicated to Wests Tigers in advance of the announcement even though it has always been our understanding and the standard practice within the game that the club signing a player makes any such announcement.

“We do not understand the statement that our announcement is arrogant or disrespectful to the Wests Tigers Club.

“Our objective was to release key information that was already being widely discussed.”

Wait… So we haven't released him? And he has signed? But obviously we asked him to look around?

If we asked him to loom around why are we upset he signed with another club? You know what humphreys.. This huge offload of players still in contract is pretty poor form.

What goes around, comes around Mr Humphries! Some could say it is poor Mr Humphries how you are not only treating contracted players, but also your loyal supporters.

gotta say it was strange considering it's the day of a game.
Makes you think it was either
a) a done-deal days ago, or
b) Concord hasn't released him, or
c) it's all sorted, but all parties agreed to hold back the announcement until a later day (seems the most logical)

or maybe something else?

BAHAHAHAHA.

Suck it Red-V.

This is going to get interesting.

***Reaches for Popcorn, and reclines***

You goonies are missing the point.

The DRAGONS have stuffed this up. Not us. Sheesh.

I was thinking this this afternoon that it is normal for the club releasing the player to make the announcement first…

Fire Up Humpty!!!

Either humphreys is lying, was not involved in Moltzen's negotiations or this could end up in court.

Who cares when the announcement is made? I wish clubs would just announce their news whenever it happens anyway. Tigers need to be more open with us and tell us what's going on sooner than they have been.

Really, really annoyed. I will not be renewing my family's 20 year membership next year. How can you expect loyalty from players when you show no loyalty in return? No loyalty = no membership Tigers. I'm sure other supporters feel the same.

If he is genuinely outraged, he would fire up and make him finish his contract. However, something tells me he is not…...

Hi and welcome to the forums, and thank you for such a positive first post you loyal fan you.

This is the same club that showed Moltzen, Tuiaki, Cayless, Tupou, andmany others loyalty through horrendous injuries that would be extremely expensive in terms of rehab, wages paid, and surgical costs, for little to zero gain in return?

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Lol @ anyone thinking this is about moltzen leaving. Humpreys is merely trying to shift the focus off us losing another player and the complete shambles that camp concord is currently in.

The deal has been done for a few days now.

Not according to Humpty….do you know something he doesnt?

Nah, just if the player himself says he has signed, then im prepared to go with him. But at the end of the day, he is just a player and who knows what shananigans go on with player managers and CEO's
