Tigers snare Takairangi

Takrangi is a good singing and of curse the club needs to keep picking up players - we can't wait till the new coach is appointed as many options will be gone.

He can be a good NRL player in the backrow, he can also play in the centres and even fill in at 5/8\. He is clearly filling Corey Pattersons position in the squad and backing up the 2 spots where we have the biggest weakness.

Some people will never be satisfied - we lost Patterson, Fulton, Thompson perhaps, Anasta, Murdoch-Masila and people winge that the club is signing someone - you should be winging if they weren't or would you like the new coach to play with 12 on the field most weeks -

He is 25, has played 70 FG games including a the last 2 full seasons for the Gold Coast where he has been one of thier best and provided great utility value, 105kg and almost 193cm bringing size, skill (as his 5/8 time showed) he is a great signing for our squad

I'm glad the vibe on this signing is low. Means he'll get massive wraps next year. He's way better than anyone is giving him credit for. He's a harder hitter in defence than anyone in our side including Blair and Seumanufagai. He's quicker than he looks, has a nice swerve, is a good ballplayer. He's being very unfairly criticised. He is better than Bodene Thompson and he would have definitely been in the Titans top 17 at any stage throughout the year.

Great signing cant wait to see him playing in the centres for us next year his a very good player. Finally we signed 2 good outside backs go u tigers.

Exactly.

I think he is the perfect type of player to play outside Brooks and Moses.

Its a decent pick up but like others have said who the hell is making these decisions. Becoming more and more obvious the head coach is already on board.

@Tiger in the Gong,Mayers mate,Parish…...rookie decision maker....

Just my thoughts,I could be wrong,no one really knows, the internal secret service at work I would think.

Maybe Robbie is interviewing would be coaches,at this club anything is possible.....

On past form it is quite possible. What a circus if it is.

It does seem odd. Surely Thompson wouldn't be asking much more than Takairangi? I rate him higher than Thompson too but why would the club let a guy go who obviously loves it here and loves the players like Bodene to just go get Takairangi for similar coin?

I'm so excited we have picked up another fringe first grader from another NRL club

I'm getting so bored saying this about every signing we seem to make since God knows when

He is on the fringe of making NZ team

_Posted using RoarFEED V.4_

He's been named in a train on squad , just about every third NRL player is

Takairangi wouldn't have made the Titans top 17 when they had a fully fit squad , but like us they had many injuries

As I said in the other thread he is the poor mans version of Blake Austin and or possibly Thompson

Lets hope we aren't letting either Thompson or Austin go to have signed him

We aren't exactly in a position to be signing Origin reps, financially, or ability wise. Takairangi is one of those players thats within our means, we can't sign superstars. I'd personally like to have signed Fonua, but i'll settle for him, and Naiqama if we can get him.

What the new coach and GM should be targeting is a complete reboot of the playing roster in 2016\. Galloway and Lawrence need to be shopped around, Richards will be retiring, Blair as big of a fan i am of his, can take a pay cut. Its time to replicate what the Panthers did, and give the club a complete overhaul and bring in fresh faces, even if it means parting with some of the clubs favourite sons. Penrith showed you can still have success by moving the staples of your club on. Gordon, Lewis and Jennings gone the same yr. That would just about be the equivalent of us losing Galloway, Lawrence and Farah. If that happened we would recover. I'm sure there'd be Panther fans who would never have dreamed about being in a pre lim final 2 yrs after they let those 3 go, but look at them now.

This club needs an all out assault on the player market for 2016, or at least an attempt, cos while we have a great set of juniors, we are severely lacking in older guys who show leadership.

If it is true that we have signed Takairangi …I think that's the writing is on the wall that Bodene is off to the Raiders which is a shame ...his form this season was one of the shining lights in the drab existence that was 2014...

Don't mind Takairangi as a squadie we could do worse..

We've potentially signed a player paying overs for a 3 year deal. When will the club learn!!

Sharks wanted him, were talking to him for months, but couldn't afford his wage demands. Titans wanted to keep him but also couldn't afford his demands, yet somehow we can? I doubt he's coming here for love not money, but with our cap seemingly so tight how can we afford to outbid other clubs for an average player?

He's not a replacement for Paterson as he would be on a third of the coin Takaraingi will be on. It would seem he's a replacement for both bodene and paterson in the one player.

I'll be paying close attention to him in the nz or samoan sides, whichever he gets picked for, if any. I doubt we'd officially sign him until we have a new coach. We have probably agreed to terms with the new coach to rubber stamp any new signings. It's not liike Brad would be training with us in the meantime in any case so we might as well wait another month to get it signed off.

There could be the chance the new coach doesn't rate him, in which case he'd stay with the Titans for less money i guess.

Should only be a 2 year deal though. He hasn't proven that he's a standout NRL player, and if he turns into a dud/average player we'll be stuck with him for 3 years. 2 years should be the standard contract length for most players, with only those who are stars or with loads of potential getting long term deals.

I hope that Bodene stays…. his work rate is second to none....I can't see any sense letting him go unless he has been offered a lot more dollars somewhere else and in that case he goes with my blessing....he deserves every penny that's coming to him.

i think bodene is a 2nd rower while taikarangi is more of a centre or 5/8.

imo bodene will be retained regardless of taikarangi. woud've preferred another titan in maurice blair if possible tbh

I agree,I said in another thread he is better and bigger than Thompson, who gets a lot of love around here,Happy you are a poor judge if you think he is a poor mans Thompson.

As a backrower hes a poor mans Thompson. But as a centre hes actually pretty good.Five eighth he is meh.

He'll go okay but we shouldn't have bought him.

We need two defensively strong back rowers more than anything.

We now have two Bodene's who tend to go missing in defence at costly times during games.

I think centre was a bigger need than backrow.Bodenes defence was pretty good.
