Parramatta stadium with a descent upgrade in capacity IMO is the best long term ground.

Looks like Todd Greenberg has a plan to axed suburban grounds in the next 2-4 years. I've said for a while that Wests Tigers won't be playing out of Leichhardt in 5 years. It will be like Souths with Redfern, just return for a pre-season match.

Campbelltown is a great stadium, even Balmain fans have to realise it's a great ground with good access. It would easily be made into a 40K stadium with Grand Stands added at North and South ends of the ground.

The upgrade isn't going to happen, it was always going to be a long shot at best anyway. I'm still skeptical about this whole stadium plan the NRL supposedly has in place. I don't doubt that it will happen eventually but not in the time frame people are saying.

Hey azsportza, do you sit in the members' section in the stand at Campbelltown? If you do, you would know you don't sit much because you have to stand up each time someone wants to get past. There is almost no leg room at all. It is poorly designed. I don't know what the minimum distance between rows of seats is supposed to be, but I know they must have used it to upgrade the stand at Campbelltown. It is annoying and uncomfortable. So, in that respect, facilities for members at Campbelltown is pretty poor. In other aspects though, I agree, it has potential.

The entire Alf Duguid stand really needs replacing, while Im dreaming, the entire length of the field would be ideal…..and a functional roof over the eastern side too from 20m to 20m line

New Wests Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer has reassured supporters that NRL games will continue to be played at Leichhardt and Campbelltown.

As revealed by Fairfax Media on Thursday, Mayer has been handed the task of running the joint-venture club following the departure of Stephen Humphreys.

Just hours after signing his new contract, Mayer was bullish about the Tigers' chances of becoming an NRL powerhouse, setting the ambitious goals of a finals appearance in 2015 and a grand-final berth for the following year.

The franchise announced on Thursday that the team would be playing the round-24 clash with St George Illawarra at the SCG, marking 50 years since the 1963 decider between the St George Dragons and Western Suburbs Magpies. And Mayer promised to deliver more ''good news'' to fans next week. But perhaps the most positive message is the commitment to continue playing games at Leichhardt Oval and Campbelltown Sports Ground, traditional venues that appeared in the firing line following the game's strategy of stadiums consolidation.

''I can absolutely guarantee to our members and fans that Campbelltown and Leichhardt are absolutely crucial to this club,'' Mayer said. ''There is no doubt that Leichhardt needs and deserves daytime football and we'll be working very hard with the NRL to ensure that happens next year. Campbelltown also deserves some great football games. We've got to work hard with the community to get back on board. It's been a tough year but I'm sure they will be right behind us when we include them in our plans going forward.''

Those plans include a sharp turnaround in the team's fortunes. While the Tigers are languishing in 15th spot only above Parramatta, Mayer believes the club's talented juniors - coupled with the addition of some experienced players to the roster - could have them primed for a grand final appearance as soon as 2016.

''You have to have some lofty ambitions in this game and I'm quite prepared, as an administrator, to say that's what we should be focused on,'' Mayer said.

It's all crap. He doesn't have any control when the games will be on as was shown this year. Ch9 & Fox will determine that not our new shiester CEO. He really has done a number on you lot, it's the emperors new clothes.

Thats no secret, guest (is that you knuckles)

He doesnt say they have control over where games are played, he said:

I remember when we were the Sydney Tigets for 1 year and played out of Parra Stadium there were crowds of 1500 turning up. No way back there again.

1 games at Leichhardt, 1 game at Campbelltown ( which is what Greenberg seemed to suggest today) and the rest at ANZ ,although maybe o e at the SCG. We have to choose whether we want to be a strong club in the future or give away money and fans by playing at crappy venues. the NSW government has made it clear the only stadiums getting money are ANZ , SFS and perhaps one in the west but I'd say its more likely to be parra stadium then any other

I'm surprised no one else has brought this up… The article says we're setting ambitious goals of top 8 in 2015, gf the year after. Ummm... Should it not be our goal to make the top 8 in 2014??

Thought about this too but I think rather than writing off 2014 he's pointing out how unrealistic is. We'll still try but it's very unlikely.

Ah ok Gray, that makes much more sense. We should definitely be aiming for the top 8 next year

Every club aims to make the top 8 at the start of a year.

All Mayer is doing is saying what all other CEO's say about their clubs ambitions.

That was my original point… In the OP article, it said we were aiming for top 8 in 2015, and I questioned why we weren't aiming for it next year. But gray pointed out that the same article in another thread had us aiming for the top 8 in 2014
