Tigers to sacrifice $100K for Leichhardt farewell

Surprised this is a issue, we are a fickle bunch but this seems a no brainier.

One less game at Bankwest -Win

100K less the club has to waste on a plodder, or even worse, extending contracts of current plodders-Win.

7500 could say goodbye at BW but only 3200 at LO? Not a great decision in my books

More like 6000 Slimers and 1500 Tigers fans
Great call from management imo

It's our home game. We could have sold tickets via memberships first and blocked the slimers out. But we have a strong history of wasting money and locking fans out.
A feel good story will appease the fans for another year.

C’mon champ
Bankwest is never our home game & Leichhardt is really our spiritual home ground like it or not

Let's move there then. I don't feel we have a home ground at all.

They are talking about the new stadium at Liverpool as being one of there grounds as well.
Don’t think it really matters where they play with the televised coverage these days.

If Liverpool becomes reality it will be our only Home Ground

I don't think it will.

Wonder why when they got booed off at half time last time

They weren't booed off

Give up 100 k for a 100 k a season player .....I wish I had that business sense

$300k a season a player, who played like a $100k player

But But But Benji insisted on 360 he was on league minimum

Benji say's a lot of things, he was a great player for us, but that was some years back, he should accept the accolades, shut up and drift off to retirement

Again don’t think anyone is against the move to LO just would’ve preferred Campbelltown as it hasn’t got a game with crowds all season

**The club always loves to use Leichhardt for things like this though. Every big game and important milestone always seems to end up there while Campbelltown gets the scraps.**

OK admittedly I have been going to LO for a long time and love the place, but I really dont think its a conspiracy, nor do I think that LO is "better" than CSS. IMO it is just a much easier sell to the media and the neutral public as a "Spectacle" or an event. LO isnt better than CSS but it does have the heritage/nostalgia aspect to the image that CSS doesnt have and accordingly is easier to sell as "Boutique". Plus obviously closer to inner city & inner west. For mine its simply marketing.

I agree it’s definitely marketing. It’s seen as the spiritual home ground of Tigers and fans love going there so of course fans will attend. When Campbelltown gets good games like bulldogs vs tigers last year there was a good 15,000 people there and it was great. Unfortunately they always seem to get less favourable games crowd wise.

End of the day I’d love to have 6 home games at each. 3 at each simply isn’t enough but the club is still contracted to play at bankwest/ANZ

You won't be getting 6 at each.

I was at the game & we weren't booing the team. We were booing the refs. Foxsports were saying we were booing the team.

It was the ref who was booed off not the players Yvonne Sampson made the same blue

Exactly. And I was 1 of those booing the refs. Our team had already gone up the tunnel & when the refs were just getting off the field, we started booing them then.

Aaahh yes... Down 0-20 after 40 mins and its the ref's fault
Hilarious

Hope you've read some of the other threads people have posted backing up what I said

Josh - Take your medicine and have a break for a week. Creating new accounts will just delay your ban further.

I’m no troll. The Tiger footprints are still painted on the pavements of Darling St. Faded from 2005 but still visible. Lighten up sunshine.

You are a troll sunshine - anyone who prefaces their comment with " I don’t know how to say this without triggering someone " is a troll. But thats ok you Balmain dinosaurs can't get out of the past - you have no club, no money, and no future. Owned by Wests. But you do have your spiritual dump at Leichhardt and your tigger on the jersey. Who cares whats painted in Darling St - I'm sure all the latte sippers are impressed.

Just ignore him mate, he is looking for the reaction you just gave because that is likely to cause others to react to you.

Makes sense LO send off, Lawrence needs to be selected out of all the unwanted Media attention he deserves a better send off than Benji.

It will however be a Media circus with the Tigers still receiving negative press.

Agree sounds like Campbeltown gets the short straw that needs to even up at some point we are joint clubs.

Really don;t care where its held however a WIN over the Eels would bne a bonus.

No one was saying who's fault it was.

The statement was - the crowd was booing the Ref not the players.

Moving from Bankwest to Leichhardt serves two purposes, (1) Its a great way to send off two Tiger legends, and (2) We finally play Parramatta away from their home ground. We may have a better chance to win, I hope they just allow Tiger supporters to the game.
