Tigers underutilising talent pool

Tigers have a huge wealth of talent in the MacArthur region as well as other regions we cover… I feel it is being under utilized.... Look how the warriors Brisbane Canberra develop their teams... I don't understand what's holding us back... Yes we do have a lot of juniors but we could have more in 1st grade

don't underestimate the value of experience, or the step up from Reggies to Nrl and 20's to Nrl, im all for promoting youth, but regularly people see a young bloke tearing up his age level and assume that form will corrolate with 1st grade which is not usually the case and putting to much pressure on young kids to perform at the highest level can be detremental to their overall development

Sorry I think what I was getting at came across a bit wrong
My point was that if you look at our team from the weekend only Chris Lawrence in our backs is a MacArthur juniour
Whilst in our forwards woodsy Farah are the local juniors
Reddy aysh lote beau humble sauce Blair bell were all bought or from other juniour pools

It's the way the world works dude. Balmain have some strong juniors coming through in SG Ball and Harold Matts at the moment. Wests are also strong in Matts at the moment. Thing is at that age, while some kids may stand out now, they may not make it in FG. A lot of things can affect these juniors between now and when they're 19 or 20 years of age.

Our development system (which is working sensationally) also produced Benji and BMM (Keebra), and Fulton joined us in SG Ball, Matt Groat has come thru the ST Gregs Scholarship system.
We also have a couple in the squad we picked up well before first grade (Moltz, Aysh, Heighno).

That is excellent use of junior development system

goose I'm not in anyway saying we have a bad junior development system…we seem to do very well at recruiting juniors and our recruitment department has an eye for talent.... I am just questioning the amount of players who represent the western suburbs area ...
I can only speak for myself but i enjoy/ed watching guys like Lawrence farah and skando particularly because they represent the local area

Don't forget Hodgo either. I'm pretty sure we'll be able to add Tedesco to that list in the next couple of yrs.

That's an exciting thought GNR
From all reports how good he is it excites me to think we may develop the next slater or locky ( I'm probably getting ahead of myself)

I think its a pretty good balance atm.

The games international now and we recruit the world over, we have the NZ © & (vc), several pommy internationals born there & here....ridiculous to limit ourselves.
Clubs should be looking at the personnel they need, not where theyre from....you need a balanced squad and thats something we did poorly over the offseason but thats another story.
Sometimes things dont go ur way eg: we could get a flood of outside back local juniors all at once end up being NRL standard - but you can only use so many at one time, the others will get offers and you cannot keep em all.

Haha probably a little. But from what he showed in the trials and the first 20 mins of the Sharks game, he looks like he's going to be a player and a half. Just hope the injury doesn't set him back too far
