Tigers v Sea Eagles

With Bula sidelined, Mason stepping in at fullback and Latu Fainu pushing Luai to 5/8th there will certainly be a change in team dynamics for the clash with Manly on Friday.

Manly: Anticipated Game Plan

Manly will try to leverage their height of their outside backs and the kicking game of DCE. Mason can expect a barrage of high balls and when they aren’t peppering him with bombs they will switch to trying to get Turbo one on one with AD to create space down the wing. Their forward pack is all about their bench so if they get momentum they will try to puch down that middle corridor in the back end of the first hald and potentially to start fast int he scond if they feel they have the ascendency.

Wests Tigers: How do we win?

To counter Manly's approach we need to counter DCE’s kicking with consistent midfield pressure. Latu will solidify the edge exploited by Canberra. His defence, in combination with Bird, will create a hard edge to counter Koula. The Manly starting pack is average – their strike is on the interchange bench so we need to dominate them in the opening stanza. A disciplined defence will contain them and dynamic halves play will nullify their defensive efforts. Latu partnering Luai will provide the space and varying the attacking angles to disaggregate their defence. Mason needs to be sniffing around to make the most of every opportunity in the middle as well.

Offensively, we need to exploit the edges early; with Sam F and Bird running lines at both DCE and Brooks at every opportunity to wear them out by making them tackle time and time again. This will also run the forward pack around in defence providing opportunity later in the half to bing TDS on and work Mason back through the middle off Pole and May.

Given the positional changes in Manly's backline, attacking their right edge with swift ball movement and support play could yield scoring opportunities. Certainly something to look at but not something to focus on unless we have early success.

Where will the game be won or lost?

The performance of Heath Mason will be pivotal. His ability to handle the high ball, will be tested by Trbojevic, Koula and Hopoate. His positional awareness and commitment need to be on the money. FI he does isn't confident they will work him over.

Winning this game will come off the performance of our pack. If we pressure DCE and Brooks with good line speed and inside pressure we are half way home. Combing that with our more dynamic halves pairing and Manly will leak points,

This is a game for us to lose, if we are committed and execute well we should come home with the chocolates.
You have put a lot of thought into this, well done.

Jarome Luai is out of Friday’s clash against Manly as he deals with a boil on his chest.

Luai did not feature at Thursday’s captain’s run at Concord, and when asked about the co-captain’s absence, coach Benji Marshall told this masthead he was simply resting because of the heavy workload – and the fact he was about to play a third game in nine days.

Adan Doueihi slotted into five-eighth alongside new halfback Latu Fainu and Luke Laulilli trained at left centre.

But Api Koroisau is expected to move into the halves against Manly, with Tallyn Da Silva to start at dummy-half.

Marshall spoke a day earlier about why the club were keen to extend Koroisau, 32, ahead of 20-year-old Da Silva who has since met with four rival clubs – and is a chance of departing the Tigers by Monday’s transfer deadline.

Luai is being treated for a boil, which is not expected to impact his chances of taking the park for NSW in the Origin decider on July 9.

Sometimes it's best to keep your thoughts to yourself what a ridiculous suggestion dropping someone after one bad game

The case against Skels selection was clear and irrefutable.

He willingly gave away a penalty whilst in possession at a critical juncture of the match when we had some momentum and a much needed victory was within reach.

He honestly thought it would be better to be a cat and a pussy than to play footy. To do what we are paying him for.

He put his own desire to try to hurt someone who was an easy target in front of the efforts and well being of his team mates. Hours and hours of preparation, tens of thousand of dollars down the toilet.

It was entirely unnecessary as it was stupid.

His team mates were busting their guts, he couldn’t care less.

And so he should be roundly punished for his selfishness and made an example of.

And in that way, discourage such wanton violation of his responsibilities to us.

He’d better not ef around this weekend

Once we let these things go, all bets are off. Our discipline is shot as it is. Obviously it’s not a high priority for our coaching brains trust. It should be.

It might even help us win games. Fancy that?

Manly can pile on points pretty quickly we have to watch out especially just before & after half time otherwise we'll have to play catch up again and lose another game by 2 or 4 points

Points came quick try just before & after halftime now we're playing catch up & looking like another 2 - 4 point loss
😢

Wooden spoon AGAIN and deserve it😿
Bunji deserves it, ego maniac!
Reality check tool, your not Wayne Bennett
Time 4 Richo to stand up, seems weak, all talk! He let this train go off the rails, bunji should have been rained in before it got too far. Now his ego is at maximum just like Galvin, Richo should never have let him get the boys club back together. We needed an experienced coach to support him. Not yes men, pathetic by Richo!
