Prior to the game i generally like to match players up to their opposites who they are playing directly against in the game to get a little insight into who "ON PAPER" has the advantage. A few of my choices/reasons may conflict with yours so let me know what you think and do one of your own.
My Pick
1\. Nathan Gardner v James tedesco = Gardner/sharks (JT looks like a real prospect but NG is proven)
2\. Stewart Mills v Matt Utai = Mills/sharks (Mills can out run and jump above utai)
3\. Ben Pomeroy v Chris Lawrence = Lawrence/Tigers (no explanation needed)
4\. Colin Best v Blake ayshford = Ayshford/Tigers (opposite sides of the hill in regards to their career)
5\. Matthew Wright v Beau Ryan = Ryan/Tigers ("beau knows" determination and smarts beat ability)
6\. Wade Graham v Benji Marshall = Marshall/Tigers(no explanation needed)
7\. Todd Carney v Tim Moltzen = Carney/sharks(Carney is too classy with a ball in hands)
8\. Bryce Gibbs v Keith Galloway = Galloway/tigers(current AUS/NSW rep player)
9\. Isaac De Gois v Robbie Farah = Farah/ Tigers(most creative hooker in the game)
10\. Ben Ross v Aaron Woods = Ross/Sharks(just gets the nod, earned back his stripes playing for the
bunnies last year)
11\. Jeremy Smith v Gareth Ellis = Ellis/Tigers (regarded by many as the best 2nd rower in the game)
12\. Anthony Tupou v Adam Blair = Blair/Tigers(Tupou has been average in recent seasons)
13\. Paul Gallen © v Chris Heighnington = Gallen/Sharks(Gallen is regarded as the best forward in the game
CH is regarded by some as "gallen like" which is a
compliment in itself)
Bench
14\. Andrew Fifita Liam Fulton = Fulton/tigers (quality in attack and defence, Fifita=inconsistent)
15\. Sam Tagataese VS Matt Groat = Tagatese/sharks(groat still has a lot to prove and learn)
16\. Mark Taufua Matt Bell = Bell/Tigers (Hard working prop = offers what is needed from the bench)
17\. John Morris Tom Humble = Morris/Sharks(experience, footy smarts, defence...offers the sharks
more then humble will offer the tigers playing from the bench
\
\
Result = tigers 10 > sharks 7
My Verdict:
Both teams are probably just as strong in regards to the bench and pack but the tigers combinations and backline should outclass the sharks
tigers win by 10
