Exactly… Well written Icon!

You blokes dont really believe in Loyalty much do you….

Posters like Bug, Hybrid, furgiefurr, are extremely passionate about the club and are bottom line driven ie WIN FOOTBALL GAMES....and that's fine

Me....... I follow the club for it's culture...prior to Sheens we had none...now with the assistance of Humphreys we have the WT cubs program that identifies and secures great young talent...8 Australian Schoolboy reps amongst the 20's this year.....then you have first grade players go to another country to ease cap pressure from previous admin ....before you get busted for rorting....What other Club does that

A maturing side tha icludes Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Gareth Ellis, Lote Tiqiri and just about to resign the best young talents in the game Chris Lawrence for 5 years something the pre Sheens recruitment team would have no chance of doing and they had MILLIONS.....

but we lost round 1 :rant over

Geo are you saying I don't like those things, or don't think they are important? Because that's just completely wrong.

I love all that. I love watching the way we play, even if it makes me rip my hair out alot of the time. I love that we have a side choc full of quality juniors like Lawrence, Farah, Marshall, Fulton etc. I love that we still play games at Leichhardt and Campbelltown, even if I cop stick for it and get asked if I have my eTag to get into all our home grounds.

I'm very confident the club is on the right track, but there is always improvements to be made, both on and off the park. E.g the team selection decisions, the membership packs, the marketing etc. etc.

I want us to be the biggest and the best at everything we do.

That's ridiculous. Tim Sheens is not the only coach in the world.

Why does everyone think we will go and hire a numpty like Lamb again? Do you have no faith in Humphries picking a good candidate? Is the club going to completely collapse and become a basketcase because Sheens moves on?

I however think he has been here too long, and **anyone after so long in one place can get stale,** so if he decides to leave good luck to him. I think a fresh change will be a positive thing.

Wayne Bennett…Brisbane Broncos???

I said "can" get stale not "will".

Bennett is an extraordinary example.

We have an established side now,all the good players are signed long term,if Sheens leaves we won't be back to the Lamb days.

Fonz?

whos that?

twisitng stats?

you have ignored 2/3's of his career, to place greater emphasis on a period where Jesus Christ couldn't have got the cowboys across the line, more relevant stats would be his entire career or his performance in his current role. This figures of 47ish% with the tigers and near enough to 50% career are the relevant stats.
Neither of the stats I have listed above are earth shattering by any means, however keep in mind he built a squad at Penrith with a emphasis on youth for long term gain which others benefited from, he has also built this squad from a weak point. of course countering this he was in charge of a great canberra side which obviously helps his stats.
the coach that got penrith to the semies ( i think ron Willey) actually gave partial credit to sheens for developing the young squad
long story short, you have manipulated the stats to suit your argument

Hey Goose,
Manipulate this stat dude;
2 semi final appearances in the last 15 years mate.
He is a bloke that has exceeded his used by date mate. Re-signing the Fonz would be like Ford Inking a deal with d*** Johnson to climb back into the drivers seat because he is a Drivers Champion from years gone by.
Smell the roses mate, look at what he does during a game, the decisions, the selections !!!
God help us !!!

The Question is who else is out there who could take over?
I for one want Sheens to stay the culture we have at the club is down to him.

Geo,

You've taken a short cut to thinking, no one loves and supports the team more than me. All i'm saying is that Sheens is person with family and all that goes with that. If the amount get big enough his first priority will be with them, not the wests tigers, who will sack him if the result don't happen.

First of all Tim started coaching the Cowboys in 1997 which is 14 years ago and he didnt coach in 2002 so he's only coached for 13 years since leaving Canberra.

1997- 2001 - Took over the worst team in the league, was forced to coach with players he didnt want and was dictated to by the board. Wasn't allowed to implement his style and was restricted by the board as to what he could do. Eventually forced to resign and was followed by CEO Rabieh Krayem who resigned in protest against the board. How can someone perform their duties successfully when you're not able to do what you know is best because someone else wants you to do things their way. Any normal unbiased person would agree that the Cowboys poor results in those years were not Tim's fault.

2002 - Did not coach

2003 - Took over a team no-one wanted. In 2 years he built a team good enough to win the premiership.

To be fair to Tim, if we wipe off the years that Tim had to coach against all adversity and start looking at his record from 2005 till now you're suddenly looking 2 finals appearances in 6 years not 15!

Tell me I'm wrong Bug?

1988-1996: inherited a raiders side from wayne Bennett choc full of origin players and internationals. Won 3 comps. 2 of them which were proven to have a team that was actually more over the cap percentage wise then the recent storm teams and his 1994 team on paper was probably the best legal team assembled in the last 20 years.

Tell me I'm wrong

The important thing is that systems are constantly in place for any possible change in the head coach.

Right now we are in an ideal position where there are trusted and competant understudies to the roll to either step up or to make any transition much more seamless.

My personal opinion on Sheens' tenure with the club is that it has been overall positive but to me long term security has always created an atmosphere where not enough pressure was bought to bear on the coaching team. We do not want the silly situation of a Penrith where the coach is constantly under siege but, at the same time, the situation we were in where Sheens plays Payne and Galea at prop and there is no recourse of checks and balances is equally stupid.

One year renewal at most because the market is prime for returning coaches like Brown and for talented junior coaches to make the step.

I am not questioning anybody's passion, commitment, support of the Wests Tigers …Bug is my friend I do not think Sheens is perfect by any means but I feel succession should be planned not bloody.....

We are in the position to more forward with or without Sheens which leaves 1 question When you make the 8 who do you want coaching you...Tim Sheens 4 times premiership winner or Brian Smith...duck egg?

Lets hope they announce both signings this week….

Next week will be boring after we win by 40 tomorrow night...

C'mon Fonz... C'mon Lawrence of Leichhardt... C'mon our Number 7-Robert Lui... C'mon Mitch Brown the BRET Centre!!!

Agree his team at Canberra was awesome and he benfited from that, I know bennett co-coached in 87, dont think he had much to do with building it however.

very pedantic of me I know, but bennett get enough deserved credit, dont want him getting any undeserved credit (mainly cause I dont like him, sports needs you black hats as well)

I think Tim has been great for the club, I don't mind if he stays for another couple of years, I think beyond that fresh blood is probably needed and I am sure that Tim would agree.

If he joins Souths for 2012 I wont lose any sleep, our key personnel are locked up and we have a more than capable replacement standing by in Steve Folkes.

With Lawrance signing on advertisers jumping on ..Sheens is either staying or a replacement coach has already been sourced and everyone is happy with the deal ..just a thought !

Your correct. Sheens built that side. Or does Bennett get the credit from his work at the raiders 7 years earlier?
