Tim moltzen- put your body on the line or else!!!

Not really out of position, he's been playing fullback for years, if he was out of position then why is he still there?

But you have a point, naturally he is a 5/8 from junior football and I have seen his kicking game and it's good. I would be up for seeing him play there next week alongside Anasta if he's fit, otherwise Sirro. But the thing is, last time he had a crack at halfback it didn't work out. Could easily be because of his pairing with Benji or the fact he was at halfback which could have a small impact on how he performed.

Even if he did succeed there, how long does it last for? Benji comes back, **what does that mean?** What about Anasta? Sironen? I think once Teddy is gifted the number 1, that's it, that's his to make his own. **Which means what for Moltzen?** He has a couple weeks to prove something so you'd think he would be giving it 200% every game.

Hmmm lets see, we have better halves and a better fullback than Moltzen, and what does it mean? Well it means he plays wing, no 14, reserve grade or for St George or another club that would have him..

Its simple he has no entitlement to a spot in the team.

he's playing out of position. considering this, he is doing well. watch him break the line as a five eight or half. he would be maloney like. he has a kicking game too.

Please stop saying he has a kicking game. He does not. When has he ever shown this in first grade, ever? He hasn't. It is false.

in like 2010 or 2011 when he played in position briefly.
its a bit hard to prove his kicking game now when he's at fullback.
as i said.
he's out of position.
put him back (like the 6 or 7 we won with him there) and watch our attack change for the better.
he's similar to maloney.

We have seen him at halfback already and he was crap, subsequently he hasn't gone back. He plays half/5/8 like a fullback, support play and running holes. He has no kicking game and even LESS of a passing game. In fact he is simply a HOG and it is baffling to me that everyone keeps saying he is a half. Some people consider a half should pass the ball (well), kick and organise the attack, seemingly there are other people that think if you are small, fast and don't like getting tackled you are a half.

mate, when was he crap?
he killed it his fist 6 or 7 games with us in that position before he got injured (out for the season).
he came back from injury maybe played 1 or 2 and was a bit rusty.
gets moved to fb (position hes not used to) and all of a sudden he is crap and judged purely on his fb performances. everyone forgets how good he was prior to injury, prior to the stupid change by sheens.

dragons were chasing him for a reason, and it wasnt to play fullback.
the tahs were chasing him, and it wasnt to play fullback.

he's a ball playing, organising half/58 with a good kicking game. he kicks off because he has a great boot on him. realistically, he could convert from 60 out.

You're beating your head against a brick wall , mtd.
No matter what you say, or how well he plays ,there are plenty on here who will never give him any credit.
Lawrence has now joined him as the next player on the lynch mob's list.
I have always thought he should be in the halves , but he has , through injuries to others , been pushed into centre and fullback .
His form this year at the back has been pretty good without being great.
The consensus from everyone is that Tedesco is a much better fullback - but he has done nothing in first grade to prove it yet.
Hopefully he will turn out to be as special as some people want him to be but obviously Potter doesn't think he's capable yet.
He has dropped a sitter with no pressure in goal and his defence on the wing has been pretty bad and included a couple of easy one on one misses.
Lawrence is copping most of the blame for those , however it doesn't seem to happen to Moltzen when he switches to the wing (and no - he's not a winger either).
I'm hoping Moltzen does get a reasonable go in the halves and Tedesco shows us more than just that he can support a player and become our long term fullback.
We need speed , and with Tedesco , Moltzen , Koroibete , Marshall and Lawrence(I am really hoping he is on the mend) in the backline we will have plenty.

Yeah not much Moltzen can do to placate the hater's unfortunately. We can all see Moltzen's ceiling as a player and it seems like Tedesco's is much higher so it's a case of, why wait? Teddy seems ready to me and the more we mess around with him swapping from wing to fullback the more we're holding him back. Stick him at fullback and let him develop. Moltzen has abilities that can be applied to literally every other back position and at the moment due to injuries or poor form would be our best winger, second best centre and best half option. Fitzhenry started as a half/fullback style utility and ended up a winger and I reckon Moltzen is destined for the same fate.

glad to see there are people who still believe in the kid.

he is a good player and for some reason is chastised by many on here.

ppl make excuses for teddy (because hes out of position).. but dont allow the same for moltzen (who is also out of position). (bangs head against wall)

Moltzen is a ~90 game veteran where Tedesco has about 4?

So yeah, the rookie gets cut some slack.

why can't we cut the guy some slack who has been forced to play in a completely different role to which he is accustomed?

move tedesco to 7 lets see how he goes after 90 games.
or we could move farah to lock or centre, wonder how he'd go after 90 games?

moltzen surviving should be seen as a strength, it shows whilst he doesnt set the world on fire at #1, he can still do it. imagine if he had spent this time in the role he SHOULD be playing?

sheens didnt annoy me as much as some, but unless potter gives him a crack, sheens may have destroyed moltzens potentially great career in the halves.

Where did that come from anyway ??

There was some story going on that Moltzen had the biggest boot in the club

Probably CK started that

The only thing that Moltzen and the biggest boot should have in common is the one that Potter gives him where the sun doesn't shine

However the 22-year-old sees himself as a No.1 and, despite having looked at what's on offer from other clubs, he's in no hurry to leave.

"I prefer fullback, I worked really hard in the pre-season of 08-09 and had a full year at it in '09 and came back to the halves just to fill in," Moltzen said.

"It worked out that I went all right there so I stayed there but I think eventually fullback's where I want to end up.
>
"I'm definitely committed to the Tigers and I love the Tigers and all the boys at the club so I'm not looking to go anywhere.

"I'm not looking to move anywhere and the club's not looking to move me on so I'm happy where I am."

I only hope that somehow Tedesco after playing 90 plus NRL games can somehow, maybe, crossing fingers can be as good as Timmy Moltzen.
We can only hope.

I mostly agree with you. Moltzen though has been a bit of a knob in that he has stated he wants to play fullback.

Earlier in this thread it was stated he could probably play anywhere in the backline and I basically agree with this however I think fullback or wing are both probably not the best positions for him because his kick returns are on the whole fairly ordinary.

I think at centre or in the halves he could really give us some speed and the ability to make a bust. I also think Tedesco looks better at fullback than Moltzen does. I don't see why both of them aren't slotted into the roles that suit them the most and if they are up to it they get to stay.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Koro
3\. Moltzen/Sironen
4\. Ayshford
5\. Lawrence
6\. Moltzen/Sironen
7\. Benji

I think fully fit that is about the best backline we can field. It also has some speed. The downside that I can see is Ayshford and Sironen both look slowish however they are also both big and reasonably skillful. The other issue is Benji at 7 will get everyone all worked up (possibly including Benji). The thing is it simply suits the team more for Benji to be at 7 so maybe he has to play there.
