Wests Tigers Head Coach Tim Sheens says the focus has been on getting the team’s preparation right ahead of tomorrow night’s crucial clash against Penrith at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
Sheens has kept the same team beaten by Souths last weekend but welcomes back prop Bryce Gibbs from an ankle injury.
“The main focus has been getting us ready and getting our game sorted. We didn’t have the energy in defence nor the willingness in the first 40 minutes (against Souths) and in our offence, we were all over the place,’’ Sheens said.
“We’ve focused really hard on our preparation this week. We won’t have any trouble turning up tomorrow night. You still have to win the game though and you just can’t afford to be up and down the way we are at the moment.
“We were up and down in the one game, let alone week to week. Prior to that, we had a good win.
“We still have to get out there and follow the game plan and play well but you certainly have to turn up with the energy which manifests itself in your defence and particularly your kick chase and the tough things in the game. That’s where I am confident we will be solid.”
Sheens added he was very pleased the Club had re-signed tough young props Aaron Woods and Andrew Fifita.
“They are gaining experience at the moment whilst guys like Todd Payten and company are out. They are battling at times with consistency also but it is good experience for them,’’ Sheens said.
