Time For Ellis to Stand Up

For mine, gareth ellis has been down on form compared to last year. He's still doing a good job, but i think he has so much more to offer than what he's giving us. He doesnt seem to have the same desire as last year and its effecting his physical domination.

Some will argue its because he's a marked man now etc, but i dont agree with that. I think you can see he's not as mentally commited as last year. There's been times where ive said to myself "where's ellis", and last year i never said that.

This week he faces the hot shot young pom in burgess. Where without galloway, and coming off 3 staright losses. He must go nuts on sunday. He's just soooo strong that when he wants to, he can dominate anyone.

Will the real gareth ellis please stand up

turn it up, the guy easily has been the standout in 2009 alongside farah and tnt, his commitment and workrate this year is still well above average. In fact, the whole forward pack has really aimed up this year, and i believe ellis is the catalyst.

For mine, the only thing thats affecting his game this year is the nasty case of the dropsies that the whole entire team has seem to have contracted from somewhere after the game against the cowgirls.

Alot has to do with being shifted right side I think. He is churning alot more off the ball metres in defence because of the fact that our right side defence is a target on most teams to do list.

He has been called on for a fair bit more grunt work by our somewhat questionable bench rotation as well

That and I guess the grind of the NRL will produce ebbs and flows in every player. Rounds 1 & 3 I thought he was superb other rounds he has been a bit quieter

thats how ive seen it smeg. I dont think theres any doubt he's dropped off a bit. Still a top second rower and love him in our team, just think he can do even more.

He's still been good, but yeah, definitely agree he can pick it up a bit.

You can't blame the pack around him either, it's been very good this year and one of the better units in the comp bar the sheenanigans on the bench rotation etc (i believe ellis' presence has been a reason for this ftr). If it all comes together for once, ellis could be that final piece we need, the exlosive wide running backrower who can offload for guys like lawrence nad benji running off him.

I think he'll stand up and put in a great performance, same as farah.

Yep that and getting no decent service from Marshall, Farah or whoever has a crack down that side in attack….

Ryan needs to step up there cause Fitzy aint cutting it either....

He is still the only bloke who takes us forward in the hard times consistantly for mine....

All the gun players need to lift.....

How about the real Robbie Farah stands up this week.....

If we are going to criticize ellis then there are 20 or so players in front of him imo…he is a standout in a pack that is below form!

i dont think he's been critisised really. He's held in such high regard that i believe he can do more. If i was going to critises anyone your exactly right, plenty to choose from ahead of ellis.

And geo, agree about farah, but how about the real wests tigers stand up

King sirro i know where you are coming from. I have been wondering in several games this year where the hell ellis is. I know there are a lot of factors which come into it, not the least of which is he has been significantly injured a couple of times this year but it does seem he is down on last year's form. Mind you; considering the absolute crap which the backs have been dishiing up lately (lote excepted) its been a credit to all the forwards that they have remained competitive.

hes been conistantly good, but when we signed him i thought he would be more damaging and be getting the linebreaks and tries but he hasnt transformed that ESL form over to the NRL.

When signed if you had told me hed have only 1 try from 30 odd games i would of laughed at you, i agree he needs to pick it up attacking wise
