Time for Potters signature

No rush but I would certainly like to see him sign soon.He has changed the culture and dismantled the boys club.Exactly what was needed to be done has been done.Done a great job with the juniors coming through as well.

Agree …. What's the rush ?
Are other clubs falling over themselves to sign him ?
It's not as if we're after new recruits ... We're struggling to keep what we've got.

Why rush there are competent NRL coaches on every corner ask the Raiders, why rush to sign a coach that was handed a basket case in every sense of the word and asked to do it for a pittance, why rush doing this on a show sting budget with a team of fresh faced boys ,why rush with low standard training facilities ,why rush when the club is 2 points from leading the comp yes WHY RUSH!

Given the youth of the team and the fact it is in many ways a new team to be in 5th position after the sharks game says a lot about him. We're 5th, roosters are out of the 8 along with more fancied teams. So called gun coaches are failing, Potters not.
We finished on 18 points last year, we will surpass that in the next few weeks, add the fact that there isn't anyone near Potter available, I'd be kissing his shoes to resign.

I think Potter has shown that after all the internal problems in the club last year that he was strong enough to stick around in very tough circumstances. I think any reputable coach would have walked away from the basket case going on.

Potter as a newbie NRL coach did not have that luxury. This year with the front office relatively sorted and team distractions gone ( benji ) some decent coaching support ( toddy & kidwell ) we see that Potter is quite a tactical coach and a good player manager.

Therefore why wouldn't we want him at the club….I'd offer him a 2 year extension straight away. And we could do it with clauses;

1\. Make the top 8....Bonus of XXXXX???
2\. Make the Top 4...Bonus of XXXX???
3\. and so on.

I don't think there is a need to sign coach's long term anymore, therefore a 2 year contract works for us and I'm sure he'd be very happy to stay with such a promising young team.

You need rehab.

Start negotiations with him now on a 2 year contract, im sure it's not going to happen over night. So by the time we've sorted contracts out and come to an agreement and are poised to say yes or no it'll be around round 15 or 16\. By then we will know whether we are a pretty certain to make the 8, on the border or have completely fallen away from the competition

Potter deserves a massive wrap. He came to the club with it in ruins, unhappy players, poor playing roster, a board that was fighting each other, being payed peanuts and the list goes on.

Potter basically placed the rest of his coaching career on the chopping block by coming here, and the chances of failure at the time were fairly high as explained above.

He showed last year that he can make the tough decisions, eg by benching Marshall, developing and blooding all the youth. Also to carry on at a time where everyone was calling for him to be sacked, shows he has what it takes.

Fast forward to this year, we are 6 from 10\. IMO a very respectable position. Especially seeing the amount of serious injuries to major players. He seems to have created and developed a positive winning culture within the club.

He has recruited smartly in key positions, creating depth and competition for positions within the top 17\. And the most pleasing thing is that Potter seems to have a plan for the club, which he is implementing.

Potter should be showed confidence by the club with another contract. This also enables players to have confidence with knowing he will be there for the next few years.

Some of you guys are full of ideas but have no back up to some of your comments.
Firstly if any other club sacked their coach, the weight of money will wrestle Potter away from the WT. Second point is, who would replace Potter from the pool of available coaches that you would like the WT to be coached by. Please tell me, I'd like to know.

The Sharks had a red hot crack last night - no rolling over there.

think about it - the game was at Shark Park, hostile crowd no less - Lewis, Gallen, Gordon, Carney all playing - Last year our mob would have been beaten handsomely by that sharks outfit.

Look at their games at home this year, and they have been notable better than their away games.

It wasn't an easy win in the end - the Sharks played better than I thought they would.

 weight of money for Poter…ha ha If anyone needs to be resigned its Payten, Webster and Kidwell...especially Kidwell. The improvement in our defence is there for everyone to see. But if someone is stupid enough to pay more money for Mr Personality Potter then he can walk if he wants... I am sure we can get another coordinator at the bustop down the road.

In the last 4 games we were lucky to beat the Eels then were well beaten by both Titans and Roosters and yesterday another lucky win against last placed Cronulla.
We have also lost to 12th placed St. George and 13th placed Warriors.

Bad move signing him. Your sounding like St George fans at the beginning of season.. Win a few games, go by grand final tickets

I would not sign him u till at least end of season when we have had the results and for players to gel better with him.

So if we wait till the end of the season and decide not to make an offer…..where does our next quality coach come from considering anyone worth their salt likely has 2015 sorted by that point.

If he leaves the tigers for more money, it will be the same people criticising the management for not signing him earlier.

I think I've seen enough of potter to know that we need to re sign him ASAP. He says, he does and he shows the right attitude and the right things. He is the perfect cross over between basket and bennet.

A very underrated coach.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Our defence is a disgrace. Our attack has improved, our defence has not. We leak points every game, we just score more.

Hello!!!

Remember the Eels, Souths and Titans???? (and all the injuries)

Get a grip.

My main gripe with Mick was the way he has used his bench , I think he has got it right once or twice this season. To have Woods and Galloway both on the bench for the benched players has been my biggest complaint. Last night he had them both on more than he usually does and I think if he is to take one off he leaves the other on and vice versa.
I believe you should always have one big bookend on , simple to workout why , last night he got it spot on. Cronulla love to get into a grind and we matched them and at times dominated them in this match.

A coach can look great when you're winning , but I agree our defence this year has been the best in years and give the credit to Kidwell.

Within a couple of years we should have most of our junior squad that dominated SG ball and other state sides ready to GO. We could and should use their mentor , so if Mick wants to stay I'm sure the club can offer him WHAT WE want to and if he walks he walks…......

I'm sure the club will retain him on something they think is fair and if MP wants more he can always try the Dragons or Wests Sharks.
