yeah I vaguely remember the Roosters being a bit of a joke back then

I still remember 1966 when they didnt win a game

Me too. It was grand.

Roosters seem like they have been at the top of the table for 20 straight years but i often forget they had a pretty bad period between 2005 and 2012. It gets glossed over as they have had huge success either side of that period making the finals 16 times out of their 22 appearances since the NRL formed in 1998.

9th in 2005
14th 2006
16th 2009 Wooden Spoon
11th 2011
13th 2012
15th 2016

Sydney 22 seasons 532 games 301 wins 57%
Tigers 20 seasons 484 games 209 wins 43%

Pretty sad to think the Roosters are 16/22 (73%) final appearances while the Tigers are 3/20 (15%). Unless the Tigers get a Salary Sombrero like the Roosters have, the Tigers have a long long long long road ahead as they dont have the option to buy a premiership and the Tiger cubs of 2002/3/4 were a freak of nature i doubt we will ever see again.

Why don't we have the option to buy a premiership?

We do have that option. Roosters bought the last 2 we just don't have the money

But we're one of the few clubs to make a profit..... I'm told.

I'm more referring to the brown paper bag money that clubs like the roosters use to buy premierships

We could do that too. I think that's over stated anyway. An easy way for opposition fans to bring down a successful club.

Yeah youre right, great insight. Roosters are completely legit. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

So brown paper bags were used to get Robinson to the club from Catalans. They had to beat off interest from other clubs did they? I think they may be just a tiny bit smarter than us.
But no, ah duh, they won so they must cheat.

Ah, what wonderful memories!

**Season summary**

This was Eastern Suburbs' worst ever season, failing to win a single match and finishing with the wooden spoon - the fourth in the club's history and its last until 2009. This was the last time that any side has endured a winless season.
