Todd Payten names NYC side to play Knights

Wests Tigers NYC Coach Todd Payten has named his side to play Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium on Monday, June 25.

The fifth placed Wests Tigers will be desperate to end their two match losing streak against the third placed Knights.

Payten said that it will be a big challenge for his side, especially having lost some key players to injury.

“We have lost Matt Evans to a fractured collar bone and Sauaso Sue to a broken thumb. That said, it’s exciting for me to see the character and depth of our squad and to also see a couple of boys make their debut in the side,'' Payten said.

Need to get back on track. Newcastle are always hard to beat its going to be a tough game for the boys.
Matt Mulcahy gets a starting spot this week after coming off the bench last week.
Good luck to Jack Madden who was in the Balmain SG Ball team last year, I think he is originally from Newcastle.

Great to have Groaty back hope he pulls up OK and good luck to young Luke Williams another magpie junior getting a run of the bench.

Not sure if Jordan Marshall is injured or whether he had a shocker against Easts last week. The depth of the squad, particularly the outside backs is being sorely tested but I do like the look of the front row this week. Newcastle have been setting the pace this season and will be very tough to beat. Given the Tigers recent form, I'll be surprised if they get the points in this one given the unavailable players.

Marshall got absolutely smashed by one of the roosters wingers. Maybe with the week off he can work on his defence which from what I've seen has been sub standard.

Jack Madden is from Rockhampton, he was at Balmain for 2 minutes and was made captain of the SG Ball team. He plays halfback but I would have him in the centres or on the wing. He is definately not a halfback IMO but isn't a bad footballer. I would say Connor Toia must be injured as he would be a much better option at 7.

Matt Mulcahy is lightning quick and i believe still only 18\. He played first grade halfback last year for Mullumbimby in the NRRRL and blitzed it.

He placed the bet for Sam Ayoub (according to his testimony) in the Ryan Tandy thing.

Disapointing, he looked to have a good future, was at least on par with Sandow and ahead of Sam Williams and Chad Townsend who seem to be heading towards a bit of NRL footy.

At the very least Ayoub has told him about the sting, bad form from a bloke who is supposed to be guiding a kid.

Murray had signed an NRL contract with Parramatta by the time the match fixing stuff came to light.
