Tony Williams charged with Drink Driving...

Blowing it out of proportion? Ron, drink driving laws are there to protect innocent people from experiencing the tragedies that are involved with drink driving. For you to not only defend this but to joke about it and condone it proves that you have a mental acumen of a peanut. Your inside info makes you look like an idiot and this topic just proves how much of an idiot you really are.

where have i joked about it and where have i condoned it? i said it was dumb and irresponsible, people make mistakes no need to hang him

While you condone drink driving and treat it as a joke an act that is a criminal offense, I'll re-iterate myself and call you an idiot.

From dictionary.com
Idiot - an utterly foolish or senseless person.

like i said where have i joked about it or condoned it??

There you go champ….

i was talking about drinking as the manly players have a supposed booze ban not the driving part.

either way your persoanl attack is unwarranted and someone in you position should know better, people have been banned for less on here for not as blatant personal attacks

See this is another reason why I hate Manly … so many of their players are involved in off field indiscretions yet the club doesn't punish them at all. They're happy for their players to be bad role models off the field. Stewart, Watmough, Williams. You look at any other club, as soon as their players break club conduct they get reprimanded - ie Teo and Winterstein at the Broncos, Tigers with Laurie, Knights with Wicks & Houston.

But no, Manly can't bare the thought of having fit players on the sidelines.

I know exactly what the rules are. If it was a league matter you'd have a valid point but condoning a criminal act you deserve to be called an idiot. If you have a problem with that then take it up with admin champ.

Manly winger tony Williams fined for drink driving charge

From staff writers
April 14, 2010

Manly will hit Tony Williams with a significant fine and order him to enrole in community services and a traffic offenders program in resonse the winger's drink driving charge.

Williams and his manager Issac Moses met with Manly CEO Graham Lowe and Football Manager Steve Gigg, following his failure to pass a random breath test in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the Cumberland Highway at Smithfield.

Lowe said the disciplinary committee of the club and the faith of his team mates had influenced the final decision, which is harsh but didn’t include a suspension.

"The issue is a serious one - a very serious one.

"Tony Williams is a footballer and playing Rugby League is his job. He will need to play plenty of games to pay for his upcoming fine which is yet to be decided but it will be more than significant,” Lowe said.

The Sea Eagles chose Williams on the wing to play Melbourne Storm on Monday night and he trained with the side today and will play.

there is a difference between being over the limit and being drunk behind the wheel, being twice the legal limit doesnt mean he was drunk, it means hes stupid and irresponible, but like i said its like having 3-4 schooners in an hour having 2 x 300ml wines or 3 smirnoff blacks in and hour-hour and half.

also mouth alcohol tests or breath tests alway read higher then blood alcohol tests, im defending what he did im just saying no need to blow it out of proportion

i see where ronnie is coming from, I regularly have a few beers after work each day , and i easily have 3 or 4 in an hour(,although i dont drive) i might be over the limit , but im no where near drunk, takes a lot for me to get the wobbly boot on..

ohhh…ok. i didnt realise abusing forum members was only restricted to league topics, so in the general discussion thread if i start a thread saying apples are better then oranges and someone disagrees i can say

"you are an idiot retard who has no idea what they are talking about, your response to this make you look dumb, i mean you are so dumb that it must take you 2 hours to watch 60 minutes"

thats ok because its not a league matter? im just trying to get a clear line of boundaries thats all.

I should have realised that I needed to be more elaborate in my explanations because I am dealing with you after all. A league matter or anything else that isn't a criminal act is what I should have said.

who hasnt been there before kaiser, legally he was over the limit doesnt mean he was drunk and dangerous, those big islanders can handle alcohol better then the skinny fella at the pubs on a saturday night.

you know how many beers you have to have to give that reading? 3 schooners in about an hours time

I may be wrong but I had always assumed that the bigger you are, the more blood you have in your body. Since the limit is a blood alcohol limit, this would mean you need more alcohol to get to the limit if you are bigger. That's why they say females (generally smaller than males) need fewer drinks to go over the limit.

This is correct. For those saying you aren't drunk well thats not the point. With alcohol in your system your reaction times are reduced no matter how much alcohol is within your system. 0.05 is there for a reason, your reaction times aren't dulled to a significant level at this point, once over this however you will get a reduction in times. If someone is at a pedestrian crossing at 2 or 3am (which is when he was driving), and you don't notice them initially your chances of reacting in time and stopping will be significantly reduced.

I can't condone drink driving as I've had a relative injured severly by a drink driver. We don't have to hang the guy and ban him from league, but he broke the law and should have known better. The club should punish him, the law will suspend his license and fine him, and hopefully he learns his lesson and doesn't make the mistake again and we can move on. Leave it at that.
