Too much fun on TV and social media

We seem to be the only club who you ever see and hear carrying on like clowns on twitter and the footy show. I think the club has a serious muturity image which is showcased by Benji and Beau every Thursday night i find the Beauster ammusing but i know if i wasn't a Tigers fan id be sick to death of the Tigers being shoved down my throat every Thursday night. It won't happen, but i really think the club should look into cutting down their appearences to every other week and moniter whats written on twitter and facebook. Its been done with other clubs, so it isn't too unreasonable imo

I think its good promotion for the club.
The more exposure , the more fans , more & bigger sponsers.
Its all good.
And if other fans are annoyed, well thats another bonus.

Accidently posted this thread twice. Can someone delete the other one or merge it in with this one?

Cheers

Beau is in amazing form, I see no reason to complain. Benji on the other hand should be practicing his bombs

Agree. If they are performing well, I don't have a problem. Benji and Beau are far more watchable than Fatty and Slater…

They are entitled to do what they like. If they enjoy being on the footy show or using Twitter then good luck to them.
Drawing a long bow anyway to say that social networking is effecting performance.

I was waiting for this thread lol. Last few years the same thing is raised and like every year we learn Ryan spends a Wednesday arvo recording/ preping for the show. Big deal. Adam Blair isn't on the footy show and he's playing like crap. As for twitter, I've stopped following quite a few because they mainly talk basketball and flog some sports wear. Overall it's a bit if a meh..

Personally, i think it's clutching at straws to suggest that our guys are having too much fun in the media. They're professional athlete's who train very hard. They need any sort of outlet to get away from the grind of the sport. They're encouraged to do these things, albeit responsibly. I have no issue what so ever really.

I follow a tonne off NRL players on twitter, and we are far from alone in our players having a laugh and giggle on social media. Its harmless fun, allows great interaction with fans and is a terrific tool to have at our disposal.

Benji and Beau are always on the footy show because they are great personalities and have the goods to end up a professional TV talent. They never present the club in a bad light and should be supported/commended for what they do.

I don't feel any of this presents itself as a maturity issue.

It's not like they're exempt from training to do this kind of media. Most of the players probably sit at home watching them anyway, what difference does it make what they do in their spare time?

I think this is being way too harsh on the players. Benji being on the footy show for 2 hours a week is not going to have any impact whatsoever on his football.

Another whinge-a-thon if you ask me.

There's plenty of other topics to have a sook over. Tim Sheens, Stephen Humphreys, Benji Marshall and Tim Moltzen are good for a few topics. Take your pick.

I dare say GNR4LIFE won't be too happy with my response to this thread… http://www.weststigersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14256&view=unread&time=1343159406#unread

I get what you saying, but I would presume the 2 boys who are on Channel Nine every week that their work is part of 3rd Party Deals their Management have constructed to keep them at the Tigers and to reduce their impact on the Tigers Salary Cap?

I don't have a problem with it, not that I'm into Twitter or anything like that, but the players need something to do outside of football. In regards to Beau and Benji, well they're personable, likeable and marketable, so if they're good enough to get part time work with channel 9, good luck to them.

Whinge whinge whinge, your seriously clutching at straws right now. They train everyday bar their day off plus their 2 hour appearance on the footy show and you think their on there too much. Everytime the Tigers lose, someone on the forum jumps up and down about the most minute thing. Let them have their fun, if i was training everyday i would like something to take my mind off things during the week, I for one love Benji and Beau on the footy show, Beau has helped me with my 6 pac due to the amount of laughter through his sketches.

:unamused:

As long as they are not tweeting in the middle of a set WHO CARES

What's going to be the next whinge - what players are eating on their day off?

FWIW Twitter is a good medium for fans to interact with the players. Sure you get a few idiots on there but the players must appreciate good luck tweets before games, after suffering injuries etc.

Besides Bryce Gibbs is the king of tweets and look how he is performing

Beau cracks me up on the footy show. I don't think Marshall is very good tbh
