TOP 8 IN 2013

Before we pick where we will end up think we probably should take a look at the other teams and figure out who is likely to fall from or climb into the top 8?

You would think Storm/Dogs/Eagles would be safe but not sure about the rest. If Bennett does his usual thing the Knights will probably grab one spot, the Tiger Sharks will probably grab another, Cows will probably give it a shake so that leaves only 2\. Thoughts?

1\. Melbourne
2\. Manly
3\. Dogs
4\. Sharks
5\. Tigers
6\. Souffs
7\. Cows
8\. Newcastle

That's what I think it will be

A lot of it will depend on injuries as it does every year. Just to give you an example based on this years top 2 making it again

Melbourne - Should make it but what if Cameron Smith goes down week 1 like Tedesco did for us and then Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk miss as many games as Galloway and Farah did for us this year.

Dogs - Ben barba injured week 1 for the season - would probably miss the finals

The only potential droppers from this year's eight at this stage would be Canberra and - just maybe - Manly for mine. Canberra because they weren't that good to start with, and Manly because they seem to be getting old in a hurry.

That said, I'm not as big a Sharks ball cupper as a lot of people seem to be. Lewis should be good but if the boot was on the other foot and the Tigers had just signed Heighington and Ryan I wouldn't be doing cartwheels. They were damn lucky with injuries this year and still only made seventh. They should be good enough to make the eight but I wouldn't predict they'd do much better than this year.

As for teams outside the eight who could get in, there are a few: Newcastle and the Roosters most likely but I wouldn't rule out the Dragons or even - I know, call me crazy - Parramatta. This could obviously change massively between here and April but at this stage my top eight, in order, is:

Melbourne
Souths
Cowboys
Bulldogs
Manly
Brisbane
Cronulla
Roosters

Manly I think will drop, the Hasler effect carried them this year,I think they will fall further next year,Canberra over acheived, the Warriors under achieved, depending on who is coach may rise again.
Cronulla I think are going as good as they can,I don't see improvement in them,Lewis,Gallen,Graham,Heighno,Bukuya and Tupou are going to be fighting for game time,4 are 80 minute players,I think not all are going to be very happy campers come round 5 or 6 with their minutes.
Souths are another I think are going as good as they can,I think they might drop a little,Brisbane,Newcastle and us should rise up the ladder, should be interesting though.

Canberra are my tip for the Minor Premiership next year. proviso being they stay healthy.

Hell they made it to week two with most of their pack missing serious time and their primary playmaker out

Definitely agree with Knights clinching a spot.. and Sharks should also be in there. Along with us and the usual 3\. Id say Souths, Cowboys. I wouldnt put it past Parramatta for that 8th spot.
And as someone said earlier, injuries play a massive role!

I hope Souths go back to the wilderness and this year was as close as they ever get to another title

but that's just me

im prepared to say this will be the top 8

melbourne
dogs
cowboys
manly
sharks
knights
titans
souths

tigers
broncos
raiders
eels
roosters
dragons
panthers
warriors

Ok, here's my stab
1… Canterbury
2... Souths
3... Cronulla
4 ...Manly
5... Melbourne
6... Wests
7 ...Newcastle
8... North Queensland

Warriors and Canberra to just miss.
Broncos to plummet to 14th
Whilst StGeorge will relieve Parramatta of the spoon.

In no order
Storm
Dogs
Sea Eagles
Cowboys
Raiders
Sharks
Knights
Tigers

One of the preliminary finalists usually bombs out, I think it will be Souths this year. Brisbane and Easts to be on the cusp. Titans, Eels, Panthers and Dragons just aren't good enough. Warriors will improve but not quite enough.

How can we even discuss this matter at this time, as we do not have a coach yet :crazy still I suppose we can summize the possibilities :bulb:

1\. Melbourne
2\. Souths
3\. Bulldogs
4\. Knights
5\. Titans
6\. Manly
7\. Tigers
8\. Cowboys

I would've had the Roosters there, but now Smith has left, I doubt the new bloke will get the best out of this young crop of talent?

And the Sharks… You cant buy Premierships and I doubt they will get 2 good years back to back out of an aging Forward Pack!

Cant see how anyone could possibly have us in the 8 at this point in time…

No coach,
Disgruntled playing group,
Weaker side than this year...

I have high hopes we can improve from this season but will not be putting any cash down for about 9 months.
