Bayley Sironen in the top squad

Didn't see that coming

Like it

At least they won't muck him around like his brother and have him in the 6 or 7 , hey FT ??

There's some terrible grammar kicking around some of those profiles, but that aside it's good to see some size in the notable names in our 20's - Felise, Tatola, and Marsters are all over 110kg (Geez Tatola carries his 118 kegs well?!).
Also interesting that Bayley made the top squad, a bit premature to me but potential is the word at our club.

Great to see Jesse Maxwell-Offen in the NSW Cup squad too. Played a bit of junior rugby with him and a couple of games of seniors cricket and he was a great kid. Didn't see much of him in the 20's but here's hoping he kicks on.

No outside back over 190cm tall in the top squad, although Peni's stats aren't listed, but I think he would fall just short too. Obed in the 20's is the only back with genuine height. Chee Kham is close and probably the only option for Taylor if he decides we need some height outwide. Littlejohn has surprising height but doubt he would be an effective NRL centre

Hopefully someone actually puts up the NSW Cup player profiles this year. Last year there was only 4 or 5 players who they bothered to do. Looks like being the same this year…

In a few u20's games I saw Ray Stone looked bigger and really punched above his size.
Date of Birth:06-06-1997
Height:179cm
Weight:90kg
Position:Second Row, Lock
Rep. Honours:Australian Schoolboys (2015)
Junior Clubs:Moss Vale Dragons

It's funny looking at some the birth dates of U20s players.
In the next few years we will have the first NRL players born in the 2000.

As i said in another thread our lack of height out wide is a concern. Teams could bomb us to death with kicks for big guys like Tupou, Semi etc. It's not always about height - see Timmy Cahill as a smaller guy with a sensational leaping ability - but from memory our boys aren't huge leapers nor have gangly monkey arms to help compensate. Nofo's not bad though, Kevvy had his problems. More and more teams bomb to the centre these days as they're less accustomed to it, and are usually smaller.

That's why i feel Chee Kam won't be far behind Kevvy.

I think Sirro has lost weight from last year. Think he was 107kgs+. Looking for more agility no doubt.

Good to see Rowdy bulking up a bit more too.

I'm hoping Stone can fill out now that he's having his first real off season. But he is short compared to modern day back rowers, possibly too late for another growth spurt? But with his style he's like a pepped up Tyler Cassel.

Asipeli Fine is 191cm/96kg, selected the best NSW cup center, frequently our best player and very good defender.

Ray Stone is better than Bayley

He has an awesome name too, just say it out loud a few times, it's what Hollywood blockbusters should sound like…Yeah, couldn't agree with me more on that one.

Dallas Graham is the name i love. Sounds like a guy who'd knock your block off.

But they are different types of players. Stone does plenty of work around the ruck or just on the edge, Bayley plays a little wider and is probably, at this stage anyway, used more for his ability to offload or cause problems for defenders in that position.

I think at the latter part of the season last year Sirro was playing the full 80 minutes. I'd say he might've lost a kilo or two simply because he wants to continue to do that and with the rule changes it might be to his advantage to be a little less heavy.

I see the youngest player is obviously Bayley Sironen but interesting to note who is next youngest. Lamar Liolevave turned 20 only last month. Josh Aloiai turned 20 just 2 months ago. Lamar has a bit of the Ben Murdoch-Masila about him. He could be very handy if he can go to the next level but then again who knows. And Aloiai, well I guess it's quite possible that the Eels would've wanted to keep Aloia but having a few good young back rowers on their books already, plus having added Watmough last year and Scott this year, as well as Foran to their roster, they could not hold on to Aloiai. He's a bit of an unknown quantity isn't he, a rather large quantity too. Anyone know much about him?

He can put a hit on in defence. I'm hoping he is impressing at training as I think we need a bit of impact on the bench and both Liolevave and Aloiai are both damaging backrow options when they're on song.

One of his old team mates was very surprised and disappointed to hear he'd left…"I dont wanna play against him"
His words

Never knew c sironen was as tall as that, however he hasn't used that frame to his maximum capabilities so far in his career.

True but each time he looks like he's settling into a role he gets injured. Plus last year was his first in the back row. Add to that all the interruptions to his footy and it must be difficult to play consistent footy. He's missed an average of 7 games a season through injury, might not seem a lot but if it happens mid-season it must make it difficult especially when the team you're playing for is struggling. Mind you I thought he was more effective than Marty Tapau latter part of the year although they had different roles, Curtis playing a solid 80 minutes and Marty more of the impact role. Just noticed improvement there, he appeared comfortable in his role.
