Who is your Top Tiger of all Time. Why??

Is it Benji, Hodgo, Skando, Hopa or Wozniak???

As a former Balmain Boy Wayne Pearce and Sirro (Equal first) were my top Tigers of all time because of their grit, determination and power respectivley.

This question came to me as I watched the Top 10 tries of 2009 for the 15th time.

For me Benj Marshall is well on the way to being regarded as one of the greatest attacking footballers ever.

Benji is not only the best Tiger of all time but one of the best NRL players of all time for the fact that he has brought such a unique style of football which we are now starting to see more and more by young up and coming play makers.

attacking yes..
defensive no..

overall im going to say Hodgo as an OVERALL PLAYER.. someone who attacks and defends.
To me 2nd is daylight

Robbie… because he excels in all of the basic football skills and exemplifies leadership at all times during the game. Now that he has front rowers vying for positions he will slay the opposition even more this year.

I'd say Farah at this stage too. Benji comes up with some individual brilliance that only he can produce, but he's also had some stinkers over the years and consistency. 2009 was definitely his best season to date and hopefully 2010 will be better. Hodgo also gets a highly commendable mention too.

Benji - just because the real of the top 10 tries of ALL time would probably include 5 from Benji. Plus, the bloke is a loyal clubman, has come back time and time again from devestating injuries and has put up with a lot of people writing him off or giving him a bad wrap.

The impressive thing is that he is only probably not even half way through his career too.

If we include Balmain players I thought Blocker and Sirro were both great players. Elias was also real good.

I think they were all a little better than Hodgo who has been my favourite Wests Tigers player. Farah isn't really near Elias at this stage but he could be at that level and is real close to Hodgo as the best Wests Tigers player.

Benji if he keeps playing like last year will be one of the all time greats and better than all the players above. Atm though I'd have him on par with Farah.

I also think that Ellis is close to Sirro in ability. He is a good player but I doubt he will be with us for too many years.

I love thread like this, gives me a chance to wax lyrical about our champs.

Best player…...Benny Elias. Wests Tigers.......Robbie Farah.

Toughest player.......Garry Jack.......WT, Darren Senter.

Dead set legend......Wayne Pearce....(he would nearly win every category for mine, fave player, tough, fair etc etc.

Most skilful...........Bunji......Farah.

Of all time its hard to go past Elias.

Best of Wests Tigers??? I'd vote for Hodgo at this stage but have no doubt both Marshall and Farah will leap him in coming years.

Top Balmain Tiger/s…..Gary Jack...Mick Neil....

Top Wests Tiger hard to split........Hodgo and Skando........but I'll give it to Skando....Hodgo spent time at the Eels so he losses 1/2 a point.........

If Benji has another few years injury free he will get my vote.....

Top WT youngster.........who else...Chris Lawrence......

As a Balmain boy I can't look past Sirro… He was the perfect forward...

As a Wests Tigers supporter, I'd say a photo finish between Farah and Hodgo... both play(ed) outside their skins for the club both in defence and attack and were linchpins in our side.

Tommy would have my vote from the Wests side, just for his spirit and passion alone

For me it's Benji. I won't mention the GF flick pass.
He also stepped Gaz @ the SFS against the Dragons 2005 major Semi
& also ran down Darren Smith against the Broncos and then ran length of the field to score in that game when the Broncos were all over us.These were all turning points in each game which lead to the Wests Tigers winning the Comp.
Without Benji there would be no 2005 victory.
Elias get my vote for tougest Tiger I have ever seen.
In his last Origin game QLD made a point to smash him .Steve Walters and QLD pack singled him out
He was sick and sorry in that game , still got up each time he was smashed . He scored 2 tries and got MOM.

As a 1 off season, Ellery Hanley….what he did in 1988 was dead set legendary... and Marshall for 2005.

Over the course of longer sustained performance, Farah and Marshall hopefully become my answer to this question in 5 years time. But for now, Pearce......but ive written other names down and deleted them to come to this answer including Brasher, Jack, Elias, Roach, Sirro.

too many to pick from, but i must admit i used to love watching timmy brasher in action, the guy was all class.

Backdoor benny for sure!! Was the best player in a team of champions. Very unlucky never to have won a GF, bloody canberra.

Agreed!! Was really the first tiger i remember watching along with Siro. I was absolutely gutted when he went to the bunnies.

As for Wests Tigers. I think you'd have to say robbie is turning into one of the greats. I loved the passion he showed at liechardt against the Cows. The scrum biff, the get square, crowd interaction, bandage around the head, Classic Tiger!! Great game.
