LIVE GAME Trial 1 v Manly

Live Game Discussion
Pretty uninspiring overall. I don't know why, but our pack always seem smaller than the opposition. Perhaps because they seem to get dominated too often. Manly do have some really big boys, but they still should not have made that amount of easy metres up the middle. Let's see next week.

True.
I thought season 2021 was the worst I’ve seen quality wise in many many years…maybe exceeding a decade.
The premier clubs handle player dropouts so expertly that the gap will continue to widen to clubs like ours who can’t keep up.
The factors we‘re discussing here could produce a product not worthy of NRL status this year.
I think the way teams will get chopped and changed through Covid this year unfortunately will really suit the maggot Panthers with their abundance of talented lower graders.
I think Roosters might struggle, they've got a very top-heavy roster but I'm not sure they've got the talent on call coming up from underneath.
Yep the standard of footy last year was bad, wouldn't surprise if it continues its downward spiral this year. The standard of footy nowadays compared to even 10 years ago is laughable, used to be glued to the telly for nearly every match every week back then, now I'm lucky to even watch the full 80 minutes of our team.

Hey guys if you have the abilty to watch the game again and go back to the start where WT are running onto the field.
Have a look at big Stef, he has a grin from ear to ear...priceless
He was very underwhelming from there on after.... ..💔

Good signs. Bad signs. It’s a trial but I had higher expectations. I liked Dillon’s speed and footwork, Tuki’s offloads and Taipari’s ballwork. First half showed us more of what we might expect for the year.

It's a good and a bad thing. Stef seems like a great fella who loves what he does.
On the other hand WT forwards have been widely thought of as the softest and meekest in the comp for a long while. We need blokes to be taking the field looking like they want to inflict physical pain on their opposition.
Our forward pack has zero intimidation, our problems on-field start right there.

Not enough quality players to share between 16 teams and we are evidence of that. We have the money we want them but so do the stronger clubs. No win situation for us.

The Roosters showed me enough last year, playing every week with players dropping out and still made the finals, to say that they are a serious contender this year with a bit better luck.
Agree re: Penrith. Back to back a proper possibilty…

I think we’re going to get a better sense of where the team is at next trial. The second half was basically a mixture of state cup and flegg players for both sides so it doesn’t really tell us much apart from the fact a few of a younger guys aren’t ready for grade.

Yeah Manly youngsters looked much better

Haha yeah I forgot about the Roosters injury toll last year, their backups did a good job filling in.
Penrith are so reliant on one player though if The Alien goes down for the season their chances are gone instantly. They filled in ok for him last year while he was taking a sabbatical to perhaps purge the HGH from his system but they had Burton to fall back on then.

If Stef was running at you full tilt with a grin on his dial would you not feel a little intimidated, I think so.
I however do agree, we are soft!
