Tuqiri hopeful of finals return

Its funny how if you have an opinion one a certain player and the forum has it in for you….then we have another player whos shed blood, broken bones and generally been a terrific servant to the club, but a young up & comer suddenly arrives, scores 4 and all of a sudden the forum ''dont wanna know you old boy... so long, dont let the door hit you on the way out....''

The hypocrisy.

Yeh, Im a true supporter.

Its hard, but Koriobete seems to have invigorated our backline and have oppositions in two minds in attack.

A fully fit and in form Lote would be a bonus during finals….but if he is just barely fit enough to get the ok from the Docs, lacking match fitness and down on form, I can't say I want to dump Koro for Lote.

I won't write him off completely though, things will become clearer over the next month.

koroibete's defense will be the key over the next couple of weeks.
this wouldn't have been an issue if koro was brought in earlier in the year.

i'll wait a bit to reserve my judgement.. if our defense in the middle doesn't hold up i would give marika the starting spot in the finals because he is a better attacking weapon than lote PLUS the experience of finals footy would do him a world of good. if our defense does get better, i would incline towards lote

Its never an easy thing when a great player gets to the end of his career. When is the right time to hang up the boots?

Lote has been a great player and before his latest injury he was showing glimpses of pretty good form. Unfortunately we havent had much of Lote's services over the past two years and in my opinion it is getting to be a bit too risky to have him on the roster.

Marika is a very talented player and has been long overdue for first grade selection. He is going to make the odd mistake - lets be frank, he has dropped the ball in each of his three appearances in first grade, but I think his speed and fend completely transforms the danger our backline poses.

My view is that we no longer have room for Lote given his age and and should just move on to Marika. Sheens will have a different view no doubt and will probably cruel Lawrence (moving Beau to centre) to accommodate his "I know best" ego. Sigh.

He's a great bloke Lote, but i'd be telling him the only way he is getting on the pitch in the finals will be to run the water.

:unamused:

Hardly Hypocrisy. Im a fan of Lote but he has hardly played anything better than a "solid" game for 2 years. Sorry but, how many 30+ Wingers are there in the NRL? Maybe 1-2? Theres a reason for that. He can shed all the blood, bones etc he wants, but this is a business, and lets not go nuts, he's been here 3 years, not 7\. In todays game, I can't see Lote score a try without it really being put on a platter for him.

I think 99% of people understand Koroibete is raw and will make mistakes, but we are actually prepared to let him make them and watch him grow, as despite the mistakes he is going to offer something Tuquiri can't. The skills Koroibete has are clearly 1 of the things what the side has lacked all year. We don't need another "workhorse winger" who does a lot of hit ups a game and to be honest, without being rude, I wouldn't even say is that safe anymore.

To me he the 4th most valuable winger we have, behind the three who played yesterday. Its nothing to do with the forum turning on you, many of the forum have been calling for this all year.

I'm surprised anyone wants Tuqiri over Koroibete if he comes back. For all the flack he gets for his hands, I remember Tuqiri dropping the ball so many times during our finals run last year and stuffing up big time in the Warriors game, while being terribly out of form this year. Koroibete is probably safer than him at this stage.

You don't win games off sentiment.

The only place I can see for him is if Utai moves to the bench as an impact forward and Lote takes his spot. But still, that is harsh.

Unless Koroibete has three diabolical games in the next few weeks, surely he can't be dropped.

Tuqiri is only rushing back because he needs a contract. Can't see him staying at the Tigers unless he is willing to take a massive pay cut. The emergence of Koribete and Nofaluma extending his contract signal the end for Lote in my opinion. Utai is off contract too so interesting to see what happens there.

Would hate to see Tuquiri come back and fail to find any decent form - or to get injured again.
As an outsider you would like to see him bow out on his own terms and not being shunted to reggies (though I doubt Sheens would do that)
In his mind he must still think he can come up with the goods.
On Utai , he has made some terrible reads in defence the last two games that have cost us points.
I'm a big fan , but at this stage of his career would like to see him coming off the bench and playing closer in - at least giving us two REAL impact players off the bench (the other being BMM).

Unfortunately if Lote comes back we'll likely see the same scenario as last year; a winger who is down on fitness and confidence returning underdone into the biggest games of the year. It wasn't that pretty.

On the other hand we have a young fella who is also probably going to make a few mistakes but the difference is that he will rip in, leave nothing left to chance but certainly leave plenty in his wake given half a chance!

But it's likely Sheens will bring the old bloke back in because that sort of loyalty is what he bases his coaching around, rather than creating competition amongst the roster by making tough calls involving form and what is best for the team.

if Utai is off contract as well, surely some other clubs might be looking to make him an offer, possibly beating anything we can offer him.

He's in pretty good form despite his age.
