Tuqiri to be recalled with Utai expected to be axed.

COACH Tim Sheens is expected to bring back international winger Lote Tuqiri for next Sunday's clash with Parramatta as the Wests Tigers look to stretch their winning run to six.

Left winger Matt Utai is facing the axe to accommodate Tuqiri, who has managed only five NRL appearances this year.

The return of the dual international comes at an opportune time for the Tigers, who have lost left centre Chris Lawrence until week one of the finals with a hamstring injury.

Tuqiri missed eight weeks after breaking his arm in round four, only to return and sustain a severe high ankle sprain against Newcastle in round 14.

Right winger Beau Ryan is expected to retain his position despite Tuqiri's return.

Tigers back-rower Liam Fulton admitted Tuqiri's inclusion was guaranteed to add an extra dimension to the Tigers' left-edge attack.

"Lote should be right for this week, so that'll be a big boost. He's missed a lot of footy, so to get him back now will definitely add something," Fulton said. "He's been there and done that - and we're missing Chris Lawrence on that side now, so to get him back will be a bonus."

Fulton and fellow back-rower Gareth Ellis were outstanding for the Tigers as the club made it five wins in a row against Penrith on Friday.

But Sheens still found plenty of fault in the victory, reprimanding the side for allowing Panthers winger Ryan Walker to score a late consolation try.

"That was probably my fault because I dropped the ball off the kick-off - I'll take the blame for that," Fulton said.

"I tried to put my foot over the sideline because Brad Tighe kept kicking the ball to me all night and it ended up dropping in front of me.

"It was one of those games that was hard to get up for because Penrith had all their star players out.

"So we had to make sure we got our heads around it and still put in a professional performance. To get the win was good."

The Tigers are shooting for the top four and must win their remaining games against Parramatta, Gold Coast and Cronulla - and have other results go their way - to be any hope.

Prop Keith Galloway said the club was re-energised after putting the mid-season uncertainty surrounding contracts for next season to rest.

"A win's a win, but our completions (weren't great) and I was guilty of a couple of mistakes," Galloway said. "So we've got some stuff to work on, but it's another win, our fifth in a row.

"Lote's probably a good chance of playing next week, and if not then it looks like it will be the week after."

So I guess that means McFumbles retains his place? Seriously, I don't see what he sees in him. Maybe those 600+ games are finally getting to him. Utai dropped some ball but off some suspect passes if you remember.

Sounds fine to me

Yeah if we can keep a fresh and fit Tuqiri for the rest of the season and into the finals I reckon we have a real X factor out on that wing.

I reckon give Utai some time off the field to let his hand repair, then have him on the bench come the finals.

If we win the GF utai should get the ring….not lote.....i know im gonna get blasted for this, but hes only played 4.5 games this year and utai has been a machine every game (bar the last 2 weeks)....all in all lote hasnt done nothin this year (as of yet) to deserve the ring

Utai has played a big role in 2011, but the better teams will target him all game and get plenty of rewards.Maybe a bench interchange player but I would not have him in the team unless injuries forced my hand. As I have said for all his good dirty yards he looses double with dropped balls and mis tackles

I'd simply put Utai on the bench in place of McKinnon. Either use Utai on the wing in the final 20 minutes, or throw him in the backrow and get him running out of dummyhalf.

Y do ppl keep suggesting Ryan to the centers, that's a terrible idea and will never happen, he is not a centre, it is the most specialized position as far as decision making in defense goes, regardless of whether he played centers growing up this is the NRL he cannot be in the centers, he also has no ability to put his winger away, he is fantastic at running off a centre who can beat a man eg ayshford, but leave beau on the wing, as I'm certain tim will

X3 Utai a much better option on the bench than McKinnon.

If Moltzen is having a shocker there is always Brown who can play fullback (or wing) so there are options available.

I would leave the side as it is
Give Lote an extra week - need him at 100% in the finals
Molten has regained his confidence and is getting better each week
Utai has been a great meter getter for us this season - his last couple of games have been his worse but hasn't cost us
Payten provides good balance to the team and we are getting many good minutes from Galloway ,Gibbs and Fulton

Utai to the bench for mine..
Using him off the bench and into the backrow for the last 20-15 minutes of each half against tiring forward packs would help to get lots of go forward.
His running game wasn't the problem on Friday night, it was just his inability to catch the ball from an albeit couple of tricky marshal passes or from a bomb due to his physical short comings.

I'm also worried he may give away some vital penalties come semi final time.
The opposition have easily been getting under his skin the last two games and he is not to scared to retaliate with a bit of push and shove.

Logical and sensible…however with Sheens making the decisions....
