Tyson Gamble

As I said in the ISP thread, Gamble looks like a very solid all around half. Possibly the most attacking half with ball in hand a good short kicking game. Yet to be proven he can take this up to the highest level, but the evidence is there at lower grades.

He doesn't have game management as one the strings to his bow, so he does need an organising halfback alongside him. That's not Reynolds. Either Brooks or Benji, but neither of them have proven to be consistent organisers either.

Is he the finished product? No. Fitness? Maybe an area to work on, nothing overly concerning though. Certainly no worse than Tui. But he'll take the line on, and put in some dangerous kicks in the opposition 20\. 2 things our halves have largely failed to do so far this season.

I'd be happy for him to stay and fine-tine his game in ISP for a bit longer, but if the other options are injured he slots straight into the 6\. He'll take a fair bit of pressure of Brooks if anything. He's vocal, big, strong, a good defender and has been playing ISP for a year or two now. No hesitations to throw him in if needed.

Here's a stat not mentioned. Between our ISP and FG teams, there are only two players who have made clean line breaks: Thompson and Gamble.

Good summation, I too hope he gets a shot at 6 this week, would make for compulsary viewing going at it with Moses, plus Marsters won't have to kick for goal.

Tui has been suspended by Ivan for kicking for himself yet again.

He was moved to fullback in hopes that it would stop him from kicking, but he still kicked for himself twice.
So another week and suspension will have been served.

Interesting Bon, thanks.

Cheers Fergie and Yoss for the Maccas info

I applaud the stance on that, but how do some others escape sanction for brain dead decisions, and in some cases multiple brain dead decisions during games.

I was joking mate.
But if I was coach I would be getting that out of his game.

Haha Bon you do realise that this will be the next article that comes out from Buzz, probably in print now!!

Sometimes it can pay huge payoff to throw a complete untried player into the pressure cooker of NRL.

Lots of players want to make a good career out of their chosen sport but needs the opportunity to display their wares.

I hope Tyson Gamble is given such an opportunity and he takes it with both hands.

Some greats like Laurie Daley, Brett Kenny, Steve Ella, etc began their first grade careers at centre before an opportunity became available to play their chosen position of 6.

In the meantime they gained value experience and education you can only obtain playing with the big boys.

Gamble could also potentially solve our goal kicking problems as well given his stats from QLD cup.

Well, I guess we have to be happy with what IC chooses.
This kid seems the real deal, and will be a great asset to our team.
This forum is full of posts about how we lack speed and creativity. Mentioning every second footballer as the "answer" to our problems if we can sign him.
We have a kid here that does lack first grade experience, but who is lethal in attack compared to our spine . . . and all we get is negativity. Benji himself endorses Gamble completely, yet some muppet here saw him shirt grab, and so he is branded a liability.
If Benji is out, I'd love to see him get some decent game time at 6.
We should be excited that we have the potential answer on our books, coz if we don't do the right thing by him . . . talented halves are always in big demand and we will surely lose him to a club that sees potential.

Great post!

People should be genuinely excited about this guy yet the forum is split.

We might be on the right track now with culture and coach but this fan base has been through hell and back over the last however many years. Obviously some hangovers remain.

Well all I can say about Gamble making the NRL is its up to Ivan….I have had my fair share of overhyped ,over paid potential being the next big thing in our team, like many over the years they either cant produce at that level or they dissipate never to be heard of again...
Why am I being smug in my post regarding Gamble is because as many of my forum members and fans,we have been burnt big time with the excitement turned sour..
I hope young Tyson absolutely kills it when his turn comes, but I dont want to hang by my left one waiting for it to happen..
Moses comes to mind, thinks he is a better player than most and wants out of here to find better,no loyalty at all...Suli,huge money and no NRL experience prior to signing a contract,Brooks, huge at NYC and only now producing anything like he was hyped up to be...so if the " Gamble " pays off, well and good.I will do just as I have before ""I will wait and see"".....

Well said TT
I hope he doesn’t read the forum! Egos are easy to inflate
We’ve had enough of young guys getting too much praise before they were earning it.
Hope he turns out a good player without the ego

All you have to do is watch a couple of his games, and form your own views. IDK if the Qld cup is a tougher comp than ISP . . . . .
Then, don't take the opinions of the many forum members regarding his ability . . . . his biggest fan is one Mr Benjamin Marshall Esquire. If Benji thinks he is the real deal, then I guess it don't matter what us mugs think. Unless of course the poo-pooers are a better judge of talent than Benji . . . .

So on 360 last night they showed a list of off contract halves for 2019.

It really is a bit thin on the ground next season.

They are going to come calling for our Tyson Gamble very soon.

Austin will get snapped up soon if he continues in Reggie’s.
I’d like to see Gamble play centre in ISP. It would be the most likely way from him to make the NRL side. Unless there is multiple injuries in the half’s (I guess that’s possible with Benji, Reynolds, Brooks). Still a couple of games at centre in ISP would be good for his development.
Just say Kev or Marsters has an injury that sees them out for a few weeks. Who are the players competing for a centre spot?
MZW, Fonua, Gamble.?

There is comment about him on the Raiders' forum. Even at this stage, he is a better prospect than Brock Lamb. His career path at WTs looks good.

The Roosters' forum are discussing Sue and Nofoaluma plus the general depth of backs at the WTs.

Marsters gets a mention in just about every forum.

No surprise the raiders are talking about him Paws.

I also wouldnt rule out Manly he would look great with DCE.

Im with you Tigerdon, he could do a job at centre. I really like the idea of him being an Elijah Taylor type back row also.

He's certainly talented enough to play centre or fullback as well which makes him highly valuable (which I'm sure Cleary knows). Is Gamble the reason we dropped off signing TMM?
