I honestly would not be surprised if we see Walters start in the halves next week.
Madge specifically mentioned the multiple 7 tackle sets / lack of pressure...and the history of it. Operative word, "history"....and it is a long one.
Something has to change and, at this point, it really does not seem like our halves have the footy IQ to get it done. Some weeks yes, most weeks no.
Let's not forget that, other than the woeful Saints butchering 3 tries, we could be 1 and 3 against mainly the bottom feeders (Sharks, Titans, Saints). That is not good.
Benji has always been 30% great, 70% poor.
Brooks has always been great in broken play...terrible building pressure in front.
Together that does not add up to finals footy.
We just need one smart half who plays the percentages. Walters is not as good as either of them, but he would give you the right play most times. He will kick for corners and chase. He will build pressure.
Walters on his best day will give you 7-8 out of 10.
Benji on his best day will give you 10 out of 10, as will Brooks.
But Walters on his worst days will give you 6-7 out of ten and will always carry out the game plan.
The other two will give you 3-4 out of ten and make all the wrong plays..and butcher the game plan.
We need one, at least, who gives us some reliability week after week and follows the plan.
